Following the monumental scope of his full-length album, Mexico’s Ivan Meyer (Hoova) returns with a more concentrated dose of medicine in Luz del Alma. While the previous LP focused on the systematic alignment of the chakras, this EP feels like a spontaneous overflow of the heart.

The EP consists of two distinct movements that define the "Light of the Soul":

Luz del Alma (Title Track): The opener is a masterclass in modern psychill. It features Hoova’s signature organic percussion, but with a softer, more luminous edge. Shimmering synth pads float like morning mist over a steady, grounding bassline. It’s a track that feels remarkably "vertical", it keeps the listener rooted in the physical rhythm while pulling the consciousness upward toward melodic, sun-drenched peaks.

The Second Movement: The companion track leans further into the "downtempo-progressive" hybrid style Hoova has perfected. It’s slightly more introspective, utilizing intricate delay tails and vocal fragments that act as echoes of memory. It serves as the perfect "cool down" to the title track's warmth, moving from the light of the sun to the soft glow of the inner spirit.

As always with an Altar Records release, the production is pristine. The spatial imaging in Luz del Alma is particularly impressive; the sounds don't just sit in the speakers—they orbit the listener. The "24-bit" treatment ensures that the delicate high-end frequencies, the "light" of the title, never feel harsh, only crystalline.

Luz del Alma is a beautiful post-script to The Chakra Journey. It’s a shorter, more emotional experience that highlights Hoova’s ability to tell a story with just two tracks. If the album was the ceremony, this EP is the quiet moment of realization that follows.
