Jam ciemny jest wśród wichrów płomień boży,
Lecący z jękiem w dal — jak głuchy dzwon północny.
Ja w mrokach gór zapalam czerwień zorzy,
Iskrą mych bolów, gwiazdą mej bezmocy.

Ja komet król — a duch się we mnie wichrzy,
Jak pył pustyni w zwiewną piramidę.
Ja piorun burz — a od grobowca cichszy,
Mogił swych kryję trupiość i ohydę.

Ja otchłań tęcz — a płakałbym nad sobą,
Jak zimny wiatr na zwiędłych stawu trzcinach.
Jam blask wulkanów — a w błotnych nizinach
Idę, jak pogrzeb, z nudą i żałobą.

Na harfach morze gra — kłębi się rajów pożoga,

Patrz, mój synu - kry płyną wśród bezbrzeżnej rzeki - nad nią drzewa z gałęzi obcięte - kaleki.

Patrz, mój synu - nie wody szumią, lecz pacierze - nie kry płyną - lecz z sztandarów obdarci rycerze.

Nie kamienie - ale maski tam grabarzy - nie jodłowych lasów drżenie -
lecz śpiew budzonych pod ziemią cmentarzy.

Nie sierpy dzwonią - ale noże - nie mgły czernią - ale się wali na nas czarne morze.
Nie myśl, że Bóg nas rzucił wśród powodzi jako szczenięta. 
Przy Tobie dwa duchy dziewicze - Jedna Cię umarłego położy na znicze, 
a druga Cię, jak matka na nowo odrodzi.
