First Contact Chaos Bed

Claustrophobic and fragile, this binaural soundscape blends heartbeat pulses, metallic resonance, and faint childlike breaths. 
Hiding in vents never felt this close.

Newt’s Creepspace

An immense and terrifying drone reverberates through the hive cathedral. 
Sub rumbles, chitin crackles, and monstrous exhales conjure sacred alien majesty.

Queen’s Chamber Drone

A living, breathing alien biome: wet crackles, slow pulsing membranes, and hissing walls conjure a humid, monstrous space. 
Immersive 3D textures saturate the sci-fi dread.

Xenomorph biome

Warped drones, guttural synths, and glitchy bursts conjure an alien menace under the colony. 
Tension pulses through clanks, dissonance, and eerie sonic mutations.

Abandoned colony

This ambient drone piece features a very slow tempo and a profoundly peaceful atmosphere, characterized by sustained tones and minimalist structures.  Soothing sounds from my electric dulcimer routed through Logic Pro, enhanced with Valhalla DSP's Planetarium plug-in, creates drones with heavy reverb, repeating echoes, long decay, and slow attack.  The layered textural depth evokes a sense of vastness, making the soundscape immersive and engaging without being overwhelming.  This composition is designed to aid relaxation and enhance focus.

Note: Two songs  - this one and "Bay Area Dreamscape" share the same use of lots of reverb, same tempo, same chords, chords in the same order *BUT* instead of the progression starting with the minor chord this piece has the minor chord in the middle of the progression which changes the nature of the song - which is interesting to me!   Can you hear the difference between the two songs?

I used the Axis of Awesome Chord Progression (I - V -  vi - IV) which has been used across various genres in contemporary music, especially pop music. The progression showcases how simplicity can create compelling music. I used the chord progression G - D - Em - C.

"Moonlight Harmonies" is a soothing and atmospheric soundscape inspired by the magic of moonlight. This piece unfolds with an exceptionally slow pulse and minimalistic repetition, ideal for relaxation, focus, and introspection. Lush reverb and sustained drones create a profound sense of space and distance, inviting exploration of the mind. 

The sounds were produced by using a MIDI keyboard routed through LogicPro and enhanced with Valhalla DSP effects.

Empty Space is an artistic platform based in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. We explore the interactions of physical media, their characteristic formal languages, and their modes of functionality. To achieve this, we focus on projects that experiment with various art forms, aesthetics, and crafts. Our goal is to create works of art that challenge conventional modes of production and reception.

To bring each project to life, we collaborate with different artists, blending their distinctive approaches and methods into something new. Depending on the medium, many of our productions are conceived as one-of-a-kind pieces or one-time performances.

Empty Space operates as a non-profit association, with all revenue either supporting the artists or being reinvested in future projects.
