This live set plays with different electronic landscapes — I’m crafting all these scenes while seriously looking for textures and kicks to soothe the noise, then I dissect the sound to find another definition and wait around for a new sound to appear. It’s one hour trip of limboistic sounds and thoughts looking for noise and drones. Featuring unreleased tracks. Synthesized poetry and glitchy vocals. Experimental sound design. 1 hour of bitter-sweet electronic meditation. Varies from ambient to brutalist, probably industrial.

Dilating is a scientific phenomenon in which space and time dilate when approaching the speed of light. The music is delineated into three parts, in which the first and last parts share resemblance in terms of gestures and styles—minimalistic texture dominates where each line interweaves with each other and displays repetitive figuration in association with rhythmic variance and transformation. The middle part displays substantial contrasts in character in which sustained and long notes characterize the texture for generating meditative atmosphere. The whole piece begins with a single pitch, and it gradually unfolds by means of addition of different pitches, interacting with other layers for generating different tone colors. The music again ends with the single pitch E, fading away mysteriously and unnoticeably.

I make music because it is where I let go of the have-to’s, and become part of something larger than myself. The language I speak on the keyboard when I improvise expresses a part of me that only comes out there at the moment of creation - when I’m fully connected and in the flow. In those moments when I disappear in the music, those are where I’m most fully alive. The musical question I pose to myself when I play is largely this: how can I release my inhibitions and let go of patterns sufficient to bring something entirely new, unexpected, and enlightening into the world, with structure, precision, clarity, and depth of expression. These pieces are meditations that are of me, but more precisely, they come through me. When I’m in the flow, I’m channeling the energy and only moderately directing it. The challenge is to be open to take risks while maintaining a structure, melody, and tempo that makes it interesting and satisfying enough to keep listening. I keep doing this nightly because it’s a language, because it’s a connection to something greater than myself, and because it’s very very relaxing.
