What has become a breeding ground for so many incredible artists, DJs, and new music scenes, we welcome yet another Melbourne based producer, Badskin and her second solo ambient album. Bush Bash, as the label describes, ‘consists of 8 stunning textural meditations, composed with layers of evolving pads and acoustic instrumentation. Field recordings taken near Carla's home town in Australia's deep North Queensland forests capture cicadas, log runners, whip birds, and the art of bush bashing.’

Supermauve, our focus of today, is a delightful number, evocative of summers past, the air gently stirring trees and wind chimes in the distance. Like melodies remembered through rose-tinted glasses. With wonderful textures adding a warmth that envelope over all.

Bush Bash will be out on the Analogue Attic imprint February 20th.

Floral Remnant, a track from Alex Albrecht's new album 'Coles Ridge,' is a mesmerizing composition that showcases the artist's musical ingenuity and inspiration drawn from his explorations of the Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne's east. The track features a dynamic interplay between the rumbling drum groove and the lush piano melody. Coles Ridge LP, which features Floral Remnant, is due to release on April 2, 2023, on Analogue Attic, the record label founded by Alex Albrecht and Sean La'Brooy. The album promises to be a musical journey that reflects the artist's deep connection with nature and his passion for field recordings.

Today’s musical feature comes in the form of Aussie, Sean La’Brooy and a track from his forthcoming release, ‘There’s Always Next Year’. Sean runs the stellar imprint, Analogue Attic with Alex Albrecht, and both are no strangers to us at Delayed. Their releases have always garnered our support whether through nuanced ambient musings, or their housier ambitions.

140 to the Pin falls under the latter as Sean has created quite a nice little number that tickles quite a few different auditory feelings. The song begins with a solitary saxophone played by Greg Carleton, its tone pure and warm, playing a simple and soothing melody. The notes, carefully chosen to evoke a sense of serenity, like ripples forming on a calm pond. As the song progresses, the saxophone's melody is accompanied by a catchy drum sequence, but delicately so. Building and building we go into the main body of the track where the groovy bass line undulates as the saxophone flashes in and out behind a catchy melody.

140 to the Pin, and the rest of Sean’s ‘There’s Always Next Year’ will be released on the 25th of August.
