His work also reflected the economic growth and abundance of post-World War II America, where supermarkets became "temples" of consumer goods. 

Warhol's Campbell's Soup cans remain relevant today as they anticipate the rise of branding and commodification in the digital era. They reflect how consumerism shapes our identity and culture in a world saturated by brands.


Warhol's Soup Cans:  Pop Art and Consumerism

The original version of 'Flesh' was the opener on the EP 'Trilogy: Flesh Trash Heat', which was released on April 5 2024. The whole EP was inspired by the underground film trilogy FLESH/TRASH/HEAT, produced by Andy Warhol in his famous Factory between 1968 and 1972. All three films were directed by Paul Morrissey and had Joe Dallesandro in the leading role. The original version and the dub mix of 'Flesh' are also to be an homage to the city of New York in the late 60s and the early 70s.

Your Funny Uncle is electronic music with a twist. based on synthesizers, sequencers, drum machines, vocals and vocoders. Is it electro? Is it art? Is it pop? Or something in between? It is electroArtPop!

The artist behind Your Funny Uncle is Vinnie Albani, who was born in Basel, Switzerland, and lives in Zurich since 2005. He has always been fascinated by synthesizers and is inspired by artists such as Vince Clarke, The Human League, Martyn Ware, Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre, Anne Clark, OMD, Marsheaux, LCD Soundsystem or Pet Shop Boys. Actually, a Pet Shop Boys song inspired the projects name Your Funny Uncle.

During the 90s, Vinnie Albani had a musical project called Vision. After that, he formed the synth pop duo This Play in 1997. The critically acclaimed CD 'Popcorn' and several live gigs followed. Their last release was the song ‘Monster’ in 2010 with an arty music video for YouTube. Since 2012, Vinnie is working as a solo artist again. He officially started releasing material under the name Your Funny Uncle in 2019.

With Your Funny Uncle, Vinnie Albani proves his passion for electronic (dance) music and his sense for solid synth- and electropop. Your Funny Uncle celebrates and stands for diversity, freedom, respect, positivity, queerness and a positive attitude to life in general.

Your Funny Uncle - sometimes it's pop, sometimes it's art and sometimes it's just freakin' electro sound that refuses to be categorized: simply electroArtPop!
