Well, here we go, the first level of this fantastic game. I love the sunny, tropical vibes the zone gives off and wanted to capture that in this version. In this game, the Acts each have their own version of the theme - Act I sets the atmosphere whereas Act 2 either increases in Chaos or builds upon the original vibe. As a new template approach to this project, I have included both Act themes in each of the Zone tracks from this game to replicate the level transitions - especially when the fire starts! Enjoy people!  

Years ago, I did my own version of the soundtrack of the original Sonic the Hedgehog game and although I love it to pieces, it is the second game in the series that I love more fondly. I also rearranged/composed elements for my own version of the game's soundtrack last year, which turned out better than I'd hoped. 

Since then, I have been wanting to complete the trilogy as it were and do justice to Sonic 3. Sonic 3's scope was much grander than 2 so the game was split into Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles respectively. For this first half I will be uploading the tunes from Sonic 3 first. Then, under a new album cover, I will upload the tracks - that are currently in the works - from Sonic & Knuckles so watch that space. Also, the multiplayer/competition tracks will be uploaded with them too.

My approach to this project was once again that I wanted to evoke a sense of retro-gaming nostalgia mixed with some of my own electronic elements to bridge over play-loops. The overall scale and rhythms of Sonic 3 is a lot more complex and it was a challenge to get the notes and themes in place. Not to mention in the original soundtrack, there were elements from Michael Jackson's sound team under the banner of Brad Buxer. Now, under copyright laws, I cannot use the original sound effects from those tracks but I have done my best to replicate/replace them with sounds I have in my software. 

I hope they take you back to a time of childhood, a time of simpler times and cracking break-through, "got to go fast" games. Please enjoy the title theme from Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
