In November 2023, London Insight Meditation hosted Ayala Gill for a retreat day on the theme of the three marks of existence - aniccā (impermanence), anattā (no-self) and dukkha (suffering) - and how an embodied experience of them invites us to live in peace.

In April 2024 London Insight Meditation hosted Christina Feldman for a retreat day focused on "The Three Liberating Understandings" of Dukkha, Anicca and Anatta.

The process of Insight

Anicca and Prema started from a beautiful conversation I had with my dear friend and violinist, Cate. It really serves as a reflection from one of the most difficult periods in my life, when I was away from music for the first time in my life and almost dropping out of grad school. In three movements, my goal was to take listeners on an explorative journey through three distinct phases of change, while giving them the space to reflect on their relationship with it. The first movement, 'Naivete', introduces a sweet melody on the violin while a tension-building accompaniment juxtaposes it. My intention was to signify how even though things may appear beautiful, all is impermanent. Following this is 'Interlude', an intensification of that turmoil which was but a whisper in movement one. This also gave audience members a chance to scan the QR code provided and answer 'What does change feel like to me?' The second movement, Vacillation, begins with the sudden hit of the drum. Listeners are immediately plunged into the chaos sudden change can create. Then Brittany, the singer, chose some of the answers audience members provided to read while we as an ensemble improvised a soundscape around it. The final movement, A Melody for Hope, is one of faith and optimism where everyone, including the audience members, sang in a chorale-like way. My intention was to show listeners that even amidst the most difficult change, 'the Sun Will Rise Again'.

5 YEARS AGO, after Faded's first transformatory exploratory Vipassana meditative experience, he returned to musical emotional expressionism in the beginning stages of what would come to be known as the Coronavirus-19 epidemic to channel his wild contemplative ride into 

5 YEARS LATER (today), after Faded's second transformatory exploratory meditation memoratorium experimental experience, he thought, poetiically, "dude like y tf didnt i realease it at the time like dude wtf y". And then went on to release the song in its pure 2020 form- heard today as it was created with his production, recording, performing and engineering skills at the time- free from the nagging feeling of "o dude i should totally re-mix and remaster it and sht maybe ill re-do that part and re-record that and never ever end up dropping this track" 

This marks the beginning of what will, hopefully, be the sharing of creative acts, free from the never-ending overthinking that plagues many creatives from all walks of art around the world.

FR though, everything is impermanent, the universe changes and therefore it is unwise to becoming too attached to any worldly object or idea. Enjoy the time we have and the things we have and be chill to each other and love each other and may all beings be happy, baby

Pure Essence (Opening PsyTrance Mix 2025)

I’m an improviser and composer that’s been playing music since I was four years old. While my formal degrees specialize in trumpet performance, I’m fascinated by how different sound colors interact with each other to create various textures and forms. My music tends to be more contemplative as I explore the connections between sound and spirituality. In addition to trumpet, this has also led to greater experimentation with the colors of the piano, tabla, and flute.
