MOON TRANCE REMIX POWER!

For my first time working with vocals and my first vocal remix, I decided to convert the original Japanese theme song of my gateway drug into anime:  Sailor Moon!

Originally, Sailor Moon was brought over into North America by DiC Entertainment (today known as WildBrain) and like a lot of animes that were brought to the West during the 90s, the theme song was replaced with one with a similar melody and English Lyrics (which I also have a Trance Remix of).

I already have a house version of this song but wanted to make a Trance one I could use as well. 

In my sets at comicons, I would play either remixes of the original Japanese theme or both the Japanese AND the English theme I grew up with.  Lately, it has been just the former as I realise that a lot of congoers born in the mid 2000s onwards may be unfamiliar with the theme I grew up with.

I played this During my DJ set at Otakufest 2024 and everyone went ballistic!  I was blown away by the positive reactions that I am now giving this away for FREE DOWNLOAD for your enjoyment too!

Here is the second of three bootlegs I premiered during my DJ set at Otakufest 2024!  

Funny enough, it was fitting as 2024 marked the tenth anniversary of both this song AND the anime premiere of Tokyo Ghoul, the anime for which the original served as the opening theme for!

The crowd sang along to and ate this one up as well!  And you can too, because you can now have it FOR FREE!

Here is the third of three anime song bootlegs I premiered during my DJ Set at Otakufest 2024!

The world lost one of the most creative & brilliant minds in the world of anime & manga with the untimely passing of Dragon Ball series creator Akira Toriyama in March of 2024.

While I never consistently watched the Dragon Ball series growing up, the fact remains that the Dragon Ball franchise has left an indeliable & influential mark on anime & pop culture in general.

For those reasons, I did a Trance remix the original Japanese theme song of Dragon Ball Z to honour Mr. Toriyama.  

One could be forgiven if they have never heard this song as it was replaced with another song in international broadcasts of the series (usually ROCK THE DRAGON by Haim Saban & Shuki Levy of Power Rangers fame).

Remixing this song was a challenge but I managed to finish this remix the night before the con in three hours!

After attempting to find a remix of this favourite of mine to no avail, this was next on the list of Anime theme songs I wanted to "trancify"!  It took a lot of precise editing but I did it!

You wanna be my friend?  Let's go on a cruise!

The latest anime song I've "trancified" is We Are!, the first opening song from the classic, long running anime ONE PIECE.  

I've only seen a few episodes of this as a teen, but since I've been seeing a lot of cosplayers portraying the series' main character, Monkey D. Luffy, during my recent comicon performances, I figured this would be another good song to remix.

Americans could be forgiven if they've never heard of this song.  One Piece debuted in 1999 in Japan and originally brought to the West in the early 2000s by the infamous 4Kids Entertainment.  Just like a LOT of anime that was brought to the US in the 1990s in early 2000s, One Piece was not only dubbed, but edited & censored the show and had the theme song replaced.  (Fun Fact: they actually did NOT screen the show before dubbing it, so they didn't know that it wasn't for their target age group until they already started, which is why they allowed Crunchyroll to take the license from them in 2007.)

As of September 2024, I've never had the chance to watch Saint Seiya, due to it debuting three years before I was born.

After hearing covers of the show's theme song from @lordvinheteiroofficial & @saigencomplex on Youtube, I took a liking to it, much so that I made a remix for my sets.

Make-Up - Pegasus Fantasy (Randy Derricott Bootleg Mix)

On Halloween 2024, I played not one, but two shows that night!  During which, I doled out legions of aural treats for all in attendance!

In addition, I debuted two new remixes I made in the weeks leading up to that night!

This was first of the two.  

Kuroshitsuji (or Black Butler to non-Japanese Speakers) was an anime I watched in college.  I loved the theme song and tried to find a suitable remix of it to no avail.  What better time than halloween to take matters into my own hands and converting this dark rock banger into one for the dance floor?

Nice to meet you. My name is Randy Derricott, an Autistic EDM DJ/producer & Pharmacy Tech based in Coral Springs, Florida (a suburb of Fort Lauderdale) by way of Richmond, Virginia.

Active since 2004, I mainly make & play Trance & Progressive House.  I also sometimes let my nerdy side show by playing what I call "Comicontronica" or EDM remixes/covers of songs from video games, anime & the like.

My adventures have had me perform at a number of venues throughout South Florida as well as some of the biggest conventions in the US, among which include Anime Iwai, Otakufest, MegaCon, Kirbiicon, Colossalcon Ohio & Ichibancon in North Carolina.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I put making music on the backburner to focus on my DJing adventures, both on Twitch and, once things eased, live shows.  I've recently decided to jump back into the music making pool again.  While I do have a Soundcloud with music I made under a past alias, I've decided to make a brand new Soundcloud, since I'll be using my real name going forward.
