Awe Kid explores ideas of trans-humanism, evolution and digital immortality on Body Logic, a fantastically lush new album for Atomnation. The immersive 10 track record plays with organic, breathing textures punctuated by moments of digital unrealness to result in an album permeated with a dream-like quality. This contrast is mirrored by the artwork from Portugal's acclaimed The Royal Studio.

Awe Kid is an alias of Sine Language Records co-founder Rick Parsons. It is the product of years spent exploring a multitude of different music. From early days in post-hardcore groups and on to a love of 90s Warp, electronic jazz and more experimental niches, the multi-instrumentalist has now settled on his own unique fusion of breaks, ambient and left-field dance music. This deft studio wizard mixes up melodic nostalgia with forward-thinking sound design using whatever he can get his hands on, from analog and modular hardware, to samplers, field recordings to digital techniques.

Says Parsons, “I love working with digital processes because you get these unexpected moments where you dial something in, that somehow takes on a tangible, organic form in the real world. Searching for these sweet spots was the motivation for the album, contrasting natural textures against synthetic elements, and finding ways to create something that feels like it exists outside of the computer.”

While the album pays homage to dance music traditions, such as the broken beat of title track 'Body Logic', and full-throttle breaks of 'Zenith', these are assimilated and repurposed to create something that defies genre categorization. The listener's journey is perfectly paced, with broody but uplifting cuts of electronica giving way to shimmering, celestial melodies, and dusty breakbeats emerging from dense layers of atmosphere, only for the mood to be reset with soothing, suspenseful synths and haunting vocal samples. Elsewhere, devastatingly emotional ambient is followed by punchy grooves and propulsive melodies to make for a real ride.

Awe Kid's Body Logic is an adventurous record that manages to move you emotionally, physically and mentally.

The first two singles, 'Eve' and 'Planar,' were supported by the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC 6 Music), Jamz Supernova (BBC 1Xtra), John Digweed, Sister Bliss, object blue (Rinse FM), Zuli (NTS), Gassy (NTS), Martelo (NTS), Spinee (NTS), Stocks & Shares (Noods), Crossing The Danny (Noods) and others. Body Logic is out in April on Atomnation Records.

So let's get back to the current guest mix. You know that I carefully select all artists here and this time is no exeception. I found her not long time ago but it was love at first sight. She was born in Germany but raised in Switzerland where she currently lives.
Not to bow to any genre is part of what gives her music it’s attraction. Unconventionally she combines groovy rhythms and driving basslines with elements of a broad variety of well selected styles  and succeeds to create a homogeneous sound, despite diversity.  The bottom line of her sound is a danceable catchy mix of House/Techno & Deephouse.
She said “The moment when you share music with others and you realise, that everyone in room feels the same, triggered by the sound coming from the speakers, is one of the purest forms of love I know.” She produces music for labels such Welldone, Inhouse Records, Purple Music, Caballero Records among others.

- Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Germany and raised in Berne Switzerland. My current city is Zurich.

- Describe your music journey with few statements. How everything started and how you ended up to electronic music. Which factors shaped your music taste?

My love for electronic music grew slowly but inexorably. I realised relatively soon that there was no turning back. What fascinated me about many forms of electronic music from the beginning was that it has a very unifying component. It seems to me that it's less uniform than other types of music I've been involved with. I have rarely seen such a variety of people united on one dance floor as at a rave.

- What can we expect from your mix?

A trip, of course. A small one...but one that reflects my current mood. Basically happy, but not exuberantly almost bursting with happiness. More thoughtful and observing than rushing ahead.

'Veluw,' which was written in a cabin in De Veluwe, a vast forest in the Netherlands which had a clear impact on the sounds. Streams of lush melody, harmonic bell sounds and subtle clicks all unfold in loose yet elegant fashion up top and slowly but surely lock you in a trance. Sweeping strings add scale and bring plenty of positive emotions.

“I love maintaining a different approach to making music as much as I possibly can”. A fitting description of Milio, always in search of the purest form in electronic music. 
 
This clearly emerges when hearing his psychedelic sound and mysterious melodies. “My music comes from deep within me. It represents who I am, and it clearly shows. I don't make music to be loved.” But no doubt this guy is loved! Top notch DJ's such as Dixon, &ME, Solomun and many others have proven so by playing Milio's music. Having international success as one part of Tunnelvisions, Milio started working solo on something new. 
 
In 2021 he released his debut album ‘Nachtzon’ on the Atomnation label. A project he enjoyed working on together with close friends. “There's no single or set approach to music, there are thousands of ways.” And so he keeps on digging. Discovering. Sometimes as a resident over at the Willem Twee Studios, which resides in his hometown of Den Bosch. One of the world's most eligible and unique places to create analogue electronic music. The inspiring setting makes Milio feel right at home. Creating and recording unique sounds and tones that add to his euphoric danceable tracks. “It means the world to me, being able to constantly experiment and also keep growing.” 

For the first and last time 
This all comes together in his newest live show: Milio in the Moment.  
Everything is improvised and made on the spot. Obviously just as exciting for the crowd as it is for Milio himself. You’ll hear the music for the very first time and the very last time. An utterly unique surprise. The perfect night to figure out how he does it. Improvising. A night that shows how much work he has put into his music and his skills. And a night where Milio gives his all.  
 
Because, yes, he’s the kind who gives his all. Always, in all ways. And never without adding something new to it.

Ribozomi or Evgeni Barzashki has been music explorer since his early childhood. He has never had genres boundaries but you can always find his distinctive touch.
He builds his sets with a logic which unfold the mind and take the listeners on a beautiful journey.
