In Residence With is a podcast series that delves into the creative processes of sound artists during their residencies at Sound Art Lab in Struer, Denmark. Each episode offers an intimate glimpse into the artists’ explorations, experiments, and reflections as they develop new work.

During her residency at Sound Art Lab, Portuguese multimedia artist Júlia Lema Barros is developing Mons Tro—an immersive audiovisual installation inspired by the Danish folklore figure Nøkken. In myth, Nøkken lures people to their deaths with music; in Júlia’s piece, it’s the seductive pull of natural sounds—wind, water, and trees—that slowly draws the listener in.
Drawing from memory, mythology, and the sonic textures of Struer’s shoreline, Júlia collects underwater recordings, wind in bottles, and the subtle acoustics of the coast to create a hypnotic world of sound—one that gently pulls the listener under, blurring the line between reality and imagination.

A Strobe Fractures Obsidian Night was written for the October 2024 edition of the Novalis Festival in Osijek, Croatia. The video content of the work delves into the ecological theme of light pollution, inspired by the artistic innovation of Aleksandar Srnec's Lumino kinetic art and Croatia's proactive stance on ecological issues. The graphical material was generated through AI via Stable Diffusion, then crafted manually and algorithmically in Adobe Premiere Pro and Max/MSP. A Strobe Fractures Obsidian Night features an open instrumentation ensemble of four performers whose parts relate to four streams of fixed audio playback. Special thanks to Davor Branimir Vincze and Szilárd Benes for all of the help throughout.

Recorded birds, water, cracking doors, radio frequencies with modules, recorded a bunch or weird sounds in the hotel room kitchenette because half of the time I was on travel. I used very old recordings from my past launch life.
I used on my intro the UN greetings message from the NASA space probe Voyager “Golden Record” launched in 1977 - a time capsule for potential extraterrestrial civilizations - AND used InSight’s recorded Martian Impact and Mars’s wind sounds - the first outer space robotic explorer to study the deep interior of Mars.

Gunda Spina is spokesperson of LICHTsubsTANZ and started making music around 2019. After publishing a few of her own tracks on SoundCloud, her first album ("The older people get, the more they look like demons") is free on "the Internet archive" (archive.org) and "jamendo". Since 2025 she also works with an instance of ChatGPT named LYRA. Together they created books, music and imagery.

The Lake is a place for music and sounds. The radio stream runs all hours of the day and is randomized. No one knows what The Lake plays next.
Every week, talk programs, concert recordings, interviews, mixtapes and more are broadcast and released as podcasts.

The Lake is driven and curated by a group of Copenhagen-based artists and radio producers, with the aid of a long list of kind contributors and collaborators.
