This is a song originally recorded by Australian band "The Dingoes" in 1973. It's my first attempt at a multitrack recording. Constructive criticism on my performing, recording and mixing welcome.

Inspired by WA’s relentless South Westerly winds and the haunting storytelling of artists like Billie Eilish and Michael Jackson, this song is one of her fastest creations to date — and perhaps one of her most honest.

“There was this one day where I could almost hear people talking through the wind,” she recalls. “I was already deep in my feels listening to “Birds of a Feather”, and suddenly it just all came together. Within an hour, the whole thing was written.”

There’s no single story behind the lyrics — rather, a collage of situationships, friendships, and fractured connections where words were twisted and the truth eventually came out. “We’ve all been there — when someone lies, and you know something’s off. Eventually, the truth always breaks through. This track is that moment, that release.”

One particularly raw memory came from a past relationship where a small lie cracked open something bigger. “He said he was home. Turns out, he was out clubbing, at the strip club — the whole thing. I didn’t even have to dig, it just came out during an argument. That moment stuck with me, and you can feel it in the song.”

Blending emotionally-charged lyricism with RnB pop sensibility, the single captures the heat of betrayal with a cool, haunting edge. Written during a freezing WA winter — her first after moving from tropical Queensland — the track took shape as she sat curled up next to a tiny wall heater, listening to “Smooth Criminal” and “Birds of a Feather” on repeat. “I even used a pre-chorus I wrote for a totally different song — but it just fit so perfectly, it was meant to be.”
The single forms a crucial chapter in Zerllia’s upcoming EP, a carefully woven storyline tracing the rise and rinse of a toxic relationship. “This song marks a turning point in the narrative — where illusions fall away, and truth takes center stage. It’s not about rage, it’s about release.”
Bold, honest, and sonically compelling, this track is a cold dose of reality wrapped in moody pop — and it’s bound to resonate with anyone who’s ever learned the hard way: you can only hide the truth for so long.

Flex and Fade is a bold, high-impact anthem capturing the relentless pursuit of success against all odds. "Number 1" is a haunting and introspective narrative from the perspective of a veteran battling silent injuries—most notably PTSD. The song explores the inner dialogue of someone trying to maintain a sense of worth and identity in a world that often overlooks invisible wounds. Repeating the mantra “I’m number one” becomes a desperate act of self-affirmation, a fragile shield against the creeping weight of trauma, isolation, and self-doubt.

As the verses unfold, the cracks begin to show. The bravado slips into vulnerability, and the need for escape leads to substance use. The final lines leave listeners with a confronting image: a man, once a symbol of strength, found alone with drugs in his possession. It's a poignant reflection of how the invisible scars of service can lead to deeply personal battles—often unnoticed until it's too late.

Mi Mate Music gives voice to these experiences not to glorify the pain, but to shed light on the hidden struggles of our veterans. This track is part of a broader mission to help broken people tell their stories and help others better understand the enduring impact of invisible injuries.

CAN’T LET GO

“Make the Bed” is a powerful commentary on the lived experience of veterans coping with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The lyrics reflect the isolation, mistrust, and emotional struggle many veterans face after returning from service. The refrain, “Don’t bang, just make the bed,” symbolises the necessity for veterans to create safe, controlled environments and focus on self-care rather than confrontation or conflict.

The song highlights how veterans may feel disconnected from those around them, often finding themselves alone despite being surrounded by others. It also acknowledges the ongoing internal battle that many veterans endure, including the challenge of reconciling their past experiences with present realities.

By addressing these themes head-on, “Make the Bed” offers both recognition and respect for the sacrifices of veterans, while encouraging reflection on the importance of mental health support, patience, and resilience.

“I Come First” is a triumphant declaration of independence and self-prioritisation. With an upbeat, soulful tone and empowering lyrics, this track captures the moment you decide to put yourself first — not as an act of defiance, but as a long-overdue celebration of self-worth.

The song opens with clarity and calm: “There’s no problem to be fixed / There’s no path I need to find”. These lines set the scene for a personal rebirth, one rooted in freedom from external expectations. Rather than chase after someone else’s approval or fix someone else’s problems, the narrator embraces a new season of life — blooming with self-acceptance and joy.

The chorus is infectious and powerful:

Opening with the simple but powerful words: “First you check in / What do you need?”, the track gently guides us through the internal conflict of wanting to help, to give, and to show up — but being unable to do so without first achieving personal stability.
