Debut album from multi instrumentalist, singer/songwriter Gene Maynard and his band. GMB have forged a unique and dynamic sound that delivers a blending of Rock, Rhythm & Blues with Jazz, Funk and Soul. Gene fronts his band on lead vocals, rhythm guitar and harmonica with Ken McCormack on lead guitar and vocals, Rick Conning on elec. bass and vocals, George Bibicos on Hammond & Electric Piano and John Bickerstaff on drums.

As a ‘session musician’ Gene has recorded and released over 11 albums and 15 E.P’s, working as a drummer/percussionist with high profile artists such as The Dekroo Brothers, Lucky Starr, Roland Storm, Johnny Devlin, Dave Graney, Peter Walsh, Amanda Brown, John Willsted (The Apartments), Ed Clayton-Jones (The Wreckery), Bosco Bosanac (The Atlantics/ Cash on Delivery) and James Cruickshank and Ken Gormly (The Cruel Sea) .

Bella Chwasta is the Assistant Curator of the Australian Music Vault and Australian Performing Arts Collection – the country’s largest and most important collection of performing arts history and tradition now home to just under 800,000 items relating to circus, dance, music, opera and theatre. 

Bella will be our special guest on Big Brekky this morning from 8.30am. 

With a Master of Arts and Cultural Management from the University of Melbourne, Bella has worked across various galleries – locally and internationally – including Science Gallery London, No Vacancy Gallery, the Ian Potter Museum of Art and the Museums and Collections faculty at the University of Melbourne. 

As a researcher and exhibitions curator, Bella is interested in engaging multiple communities with museum collections and displaying thought-provoking exhibitions that explore the multitude of stories in Australian contemporary music.
