In this episode, we discuss the fifth and final section of Cusk’s Outline alongside a draft book chapter by James Lewis entitled The Peculiar Allure of Another’s Aesthetic Worldview. Lewis argues that appreciating someone’s aesthetic tastes is a central part of achieving intimacy with them. We discuss Cusk’s narrator’s prose style as a reflection of her aesthetic taste and ponder what it allows us to infer about her sense of self.

“Dago springs in the middle of Mountain Ash, Tasmania devils and the Kathario waterfall in Macedonia, on ships that bear one name on the stern and another name on the bow, between oceans and islands with impossible names.”
Dago is a textual endeavor, an album, a book, and a sound installation that explores the death of a 19-year-old Greek immigrant in Tasmania in 1956, addressing themes of cultural avoidance and memory, and tracing historical encounters between Greek and Tasmanian Aboriginal symbolic and physical spaces. Created and produced by Nathalie Karagiannis, with text by her, readings by Angeliki Papoulia, Dimitra Kationi, and Karagiannis, music by Christos Barbas. Recorded by Yannis Mavridis at Cue Production Studios (Thessaloniki, Oct 2023).


Nathalie Karagiannis is a writer and visual artist, born in 1972 in Paris. Nathalie holds a Phd in social and political sciences from the EUI in Florence, the diplôme of Sciences-Po Paris and a master in public law from Paris I. Her latest book, Dago (2025), is the text of the audio installation exhibited at the Hadjimihalis Museum in 2025 and at the Islahane Museum in 2024. Her latest public art work is Karoo Wall (2023) situated in the Karoo desert.

Inspirées du concept d’auto-histoire, le collectif PIN12 présente la pièce [...Ma voix multiple qui soulève ces corps], une polyphonie d’artistes héritant des histoires algériennes et vietnamiennes en tension depuis la postcolonialité. Dans leurs pratiques, chacune d’entre elles dépasse les silences transmis, les fictionne, les régénère, les transgresse… pour rendre le réel habitable en première personne. « Si je n’ai pas accès à la vérité, je l’inventerai, je me raconterai moi-même, préférant mes fictions aux mensonges et aux vérités que d’autres fabriquent pour moi, sur moi » Gloria Anzaldùa  Le collectif PIN12 invite l’armée de Beautiful Liars entendues dans la création à déployer leurs affabulations et leur démarche afin de se donner ensemble des outils pour forger de nouveaux imaginaires. Par delà la fragmentation systématique de ces histoires, nous voulons explorer les espaces depuis lesquels s’agencent nos identités à venir. Let's not kill the karma (ay) Let's [start] a fight (ay)
