‘What now?’ a small voice pondered in his head, gazing down upon the eagle-owl’s-eye view. The liftoff wasn’t the tedious part. It was the touchdown. Finding a safe place, let alone method, to land. Amongst everything else on his mind, this was the least of his worries. Birds tend to be good with directions. Landmarks would act as magnets to his inner compass. For once, he trusted his wings. For once again, he took to the skies.

Off he went, with barely any flaps needed to support his featherweight. After constant practice and relentless brawls with the air, they came to an agreement. At last, he glided with the breeze tamed beneath. What he thought would be a tedious and turbulent tussle turned out to be delightfully underwhelming.

With the suppressed grace of a fledgling, he sprawled himself over the currents and allowed them to cradle his frame. His plumicorns began to calmly droop to the side of his face as he did something he wouldn’t have had the courage to do one minute ago. He closed his eyes and let his thoughts loose, coursing rapidly yet blissfully through his teensy neurons. Just for this moment, he trusted his senses to take care of him alongside the sky. As he tilted right, the tip of his wing sliced through the top of a thin cloud, which parted out with fluffy swirl-streaks. Like a contrail in the wake of his wings. This was now officially his new favorite pastime.

Coursing through his mind was a symphony of scenes. A flurry of fantasies, a drove of daydreams, and an influx of inspiration. These thoughts and feelings piled together within him like a snowball of ecstasy. Oh how he wanted to dive-bomb straight down, doing dozens of various loops and barrel rolls per second. But not yet. He still had wings to stretch, and a horizon to make amends with. After which, the thrill was soon to come as he pleased..

Liftoff got me into a newfound groove, and I got to work STRAIGHT afterwards and finished it later in the same month. While Liftoff was me getting the hang of this particular style like a little demo/pilot, Contrail was me giving it the REAL test run. I remember almost 5 years ago, I was showing this song around to my new furry friends I made when first discovering the fandom. I had no art of Luho, and barely even a vision of what he would look like. Seeing it finally soar out of the nest and into the web is absolutely surreal. So proud of little Connie, after so long...

That reminds me... Today marks the 5TH year I've been in the fandom! Happy 5th hatchday, Luho!!

Suffice to say, my production quality and composition flexibility has improved a bit since then. Looking forward to showing some of that in the second half of the EP~
