This is my third commission besides of the Anisor Terrarum series, but has a deep connection with it at the same time as well. This time, it features Barbatos, one of the 72 demons from the Lesser Key of Solomon.

According to the myth, Barbatos ranked 8th within the demons and once belonged to the angelic order of Virtues. He posses the ability to understand language of animals, such as the singing of birds and the barking of dogs. In here, Barbatos is portrayed as a demon that craves freedom, therefore bird and faraway are emphasised in the title, just like a bird that wishes leave its cage and fly for freedom. Also, the Latin title is composed of the words "far" (procul) and "bird" (avis), which further hints at the theme.

While the music might have a kind of "Celtic" feeling, where the tin whistle, uilleann pipe, and dulcimer, it is not inspired by any so called "Celtic" music, but only a style that fits the plot, especially when the bass viol is used. It is because in my opinion, demons are free beings and they should not be defined by any kind of music style, which means any style would fit them, even rock music, folk music etc.
