We’ve lived through wars abroad and silent wars at home.
We’ve seen the police trade badges for shields.
We’ve watched voting rights vanish, books get banned,
and mothers bury their children under headlines that sound like echoes.

This track carries the sorrow Marvin once sang—but wrapped in today's grief.
It’s for those who still ask: Why is this still happening?
And for those who refuse to be numb to the answer.

In 1969, Elvis Presley sang about a child born into poverty and pain in “In the Ghetto.” Over 50 years later, the child is still crying, the mother is still grieving, and the cycle still spins.

“And Still She Cries” is not a cover. It’s a continuation—a soul ballad of remembrance, rage, and reckoning.

This anthem traces the unbroken line of struggle from the urban streets of the late 1960s to the violence, injustice, and neglect faced by today’s forgotten communities. With haunting acoustic guitar, gospel harmonies, and storytelling rooted in truth, it asks: How many more generations must suffer before we break the cycle?

It is a song for every child who never had a choice.
A prayer for every mother whose hope was buried too soon.
And a fire for those of us still standing.

Released more than half a century after “What’s Going On” first asked the question, Still a Long Way Home is both a lament and a vow—a soul-stained requiem for the America we were promised, and the freedom that remains just out of reach.

With echoes of 1969 in its rhythm and rage, this anthem traces the ghost trail of civil rights, protest marches, and broken promises—from Selma to Flint, from Kent State to Charlottesville.

We still see picket lines, picket signs.
We still hear “go slow” and “not now.”
And we still cry for the names choked out by history—from Emmett to Breonna, from George to Gaza.

This song is not polite.
It is not finished.
It is a torch carried forward—lit by the voices of Marvin, Nina, Curtis,
and by the hands of a man who stood barefoot at Woodstock and sang one word that shattered the silence:

Freedom.

We honor Richie Havens, who opened more than a festival that day.
He opened a wound. And a prayer.
We carry both.
