Dirtbox Recordings proudly returns with Cities: Episode 5, the latest installment in our ongoing series spotlighting international Drum and Bass talent and the diverse sonic flavours they bring from their corners of the globe.
 
This fifth chapter sees the return of The Maniatics to Dirtbox, the explosive trio from Seville, Spain, who deliver a blistering crunchy Neuro roller that embodies their raw, high energy sound.

Known for their unrelenting style and innovative production, The Maniatics once again deliver a track destined to tear up dancefloors.

Joining them is Diode, hailing from Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. A now-regular name on the Dirtbox roster. Diode continues to carve out his place in the Dirtbox legacy, showcasing his signature blend of gritty textures and razor-sharp grooves that perfectly complement the Cities ethos.

The Cities series has already featured heavy hitters such as Slaine (Birmingham, UK), Lee UHF (Sheffield, UK), Erbass (Sao Paulo, Brazil), and ESKR (Albuquerque, New Mexico) each artist bringing their unique take on Drum and Bass and representing their hometowns with pride.

With future episodes already in the pipeline, fans can look forward to upcoming showcases from places like Bedford, UK, The Colony, Texas, and St. Petersburg, Russia. The Dirtbox vision for Cities is simple: unite the global DnB community and highlight the sounds shaping our scene, one city at a time.

1/ Maniatics- “Dont Look In The Mirror”

"Don't Look in the Mirror" is a mind-bending journey into the darker side of Neuro rollers.

Opening with an eerie, tension-soaked intro and a massive drum build, the track wastes no time setting a cinematic tone before dropping into its haunting title vocal sample.

From there, it launches headfirst into a filthy, chugging bassline layered with trippy textures, pitch-bent madness, and twisted reverse bass stabs that keep the listener off balance.

The breakdown offers no real relief, just a moment to catch your breath before Maniatics unleash a second drop packed with relentless kick-driven rhythm, razor-sharp percussion, and unpredictable structure. 

It’s chaotic, warped, and brilliantly executed, pure dancefloor destruction.

2/ Diode- “Europa”

"Europa" sees Diode at his devastating best, delivering a relentless Neurofunk weapon packed with energy and atmosphere.

The track opens with haunting vocal samples and sharp stab synths that immediately set a chilling, horror-inspired tone.

As the tension builds, it erupts into a full-throttle drop, a surge of adrenaline powered by snarling basslines and razor-edged drums. The midsection keeps the suspense high, returning to eerie vocals and cinematic stabs before launching back into the chaos for a second round.

It’s a massive neuro banger with serious dancefloor impact, executed with Diode’s unmistakable precision.

Diode sat in silence, as the freight hauler drifted through the scorched sky, its hull rattling from the fallout of the Heart Compound incursion.

His optic dimmed to conserve power, the data feeds slowing now that the Hive was gone. Earth’s digital chains had shattered, but something else had shifted in the system, an unease, a new signal threading through the static.

As he crossed into dead airspace above the Rockies, an encrypted alert surged through the ship’s comms. 

A bounty. High-value. No signature. A kill order traced back to the relic who had dismantled NERV3’s neural core. Him.

Then came the intercept markers—two approaching heat signatures moving far too fast for atmospheric craft. Precision vectors. Perfect formation. No attempt to mask their arrival. Double Medley. 

There was no need for introduction. DIODE’s internal archives brought up grainy black files, combat footage, wreckage, and shredded Cells Interlinked units left twitching in bloodied steel.

The duo were biomechanical executioners, born in shadow labs and whispered about in survivor enclaves like urban myths. 

Some believed Cells Interlinked was never meant to save the world, only to breed prey worthy of their hunt.

And now, with NERV3 gone, the hunt turned inward.

No dialogue. No warning.

Just the distant flicker of blades lighting up the clouds. One descending like a meteor of rust and flame.

The other dragging a glowing chain of skull-coded data cores, each one still humming with post-mortem memory signals.

Diode’s system, suddenly locked into battle mode. His spine ports hissed open. Combat subroutines flared, slow from disuse but still alive, still angry.

He rerouted energy from auxiliary to core shielding, knowing full well it wouldn't be enough. Not against them.

Above the broken world, where clouds bled static and the stars had long since shut their eyes, the last Relic prepared for war. The kind that doesn’t end in survival, only in how long the memory lasts.

This wasn’t survival anymore. This was legacy.

Estonian-Russian drum and bass duo Double Medley, known for their dark, techy, and atmospheric sound, make a powerful debut on VTO Records with an outstanding two-track EP that's been causing serious mayhem across the world.

Having already made waves with releases on labels like Neuropunk, Paperfunk, and Cataclysm Recordings, the pair (German and Nikita) continue their rise with this high-impact release.

This EP is a testament to their evolving sound and solidifies their place among the new wave of forward-thinking drum and bass producers.

CrucifyMe sat in the freight hauler’s shadow, metal lungs pushing stale air. The hull creaked, the Rockies below black with scars. His body was Colony work, broken, remade, tested until nothing could pierce him.

Bullets, fire, blades, none of it mattered. They called him CrucifyMe because every execution failed.

The comms spat static, then an alert: encrypted, unsigned, a single set of coordinates. A kill order. 

He didn’t need to trace it. The silence told him enough. Two heat signatures closed fast, formation-perfect.

No attempt to hide. Diode Stories said they weren’t soldiers but erasers, lab-grown executioners. One fell like a meteor, blades setting the sky alight. 

The other dragged a chain of glowing memory cores, each link screaming with stolen voices. 

Survivors swore the chain sang as it stripped entire cities clean.

CrucifyMe’s ports hissed open, combat subroutines sparking from long neglect. Power rerouted to shielding. 

It wouldn’t matter, not against them. Still, he clenched his fists. This wasn’t about survival. It
was about resistance, even for seconds.

The horizon bloomed orange as they broke through cloud cover. The chain’s static reached him, gnawing at his nerves. 

He stepped into the cargo bay, arms wide, defiant silhouette etched against fire.

If Diode wanted another crucifixion, he’d give them one. The Colony had made him  indestructible; now he’d make himself unforgettable.

Above a dead world, CrucifyMe readied to carve his legacy into steel and smoke.

Hailing from Yuzhnoukrainsk, Ukraine, his path from footballer to producer shows the same resilience that defines his sound.

Balancing life as a track fitter with early morning studio sessions, CrucifyMe built his reputation on discipline and relentless output. Max Tac Roll marks his next big step, an uncompromising statement of intent on VTO Records.
