Da! Wer kommt von Fern dort durch den Nebel geritten? Es ist Stahnstocher Johnny auf der Suche nach Fritten. Sein treues Steckenpferd, die gute alte Trude hat einen verzauberten Schweif, der zeigt ihr jede Pommesbude. Von Kreuzberg bis Neukölln zieh’n sie durch das Land, haben so manches Bullenauto angezünd’ und verbrannt. Dabei wollten sie doch nur frische Fritten mit Senf.

Back in 2023, DB Cohen announced, ‘I’ve got big blues tunes, will travel’ and when he presented Jo Wallace with an album so crammed full of musical goodness, she couldn’t say ‘no’.

Having successfully wowed festival goers this summer culminating with an appearance on the internationally renowned 2025 Ottawa Blues Festival stage, Dan is unleashing ON TARGET on July 25th, delivering tracks full of ska, Americana, Thames Delta Blues, and pure unadulterated good times. Life is observed through the lens of the bottom of a beer bottle, the haze of smoke filled bars, melancholy and rollicking, chucking out time knees ups. Dan is a true troubadour, following in the footsteps of Dylan and Ritchie Havens with a keen eye that translates vision into lyrics. Three singles, ‘Manchild’, ‘For The Love of Ella’ and ‘Hiding to Nothing’ have already been taken from ON TARGET – all supported by the likes of Craig Charles on his BBC 6 ‘Funk and Soul’ show and radio stations worldwide. These tracks will be no exception. Here’s a bit from Mr Cohen himself: 

I’m D.B Cohen, a Londoner living on the Canadian side of the pond. Filtering life through the blues, I write, play guitar/ harp and sing on all my records and smash it up live with a seven piece band formed with a who’s who from the Ottawa Blues scene. We’re playing all this summer all around Ontario & Quebec including the Capital Fair in August. I’m also planning a Canada/U.S tour around my forthcoming L.P release ON TARGET out on Ramock Red Records July 2025. ON TARGET is a real UK/ Candian collaboration, and produced in part by legendary producer, Mark ‘Snowboy’ Cotgrove. The record covers many sub genres within the blues sphere - Chicago Blues, Bluegrass, Rhythm & Blues, Traditional Folk and a smattering of Ska for good measure.  Maple Blues winning bassist Laura Greenberg, guitarist Murray Kinsley (Wicked Grin) as well as some of the UK’s best blues talent- Steve West Weston & Darrel Higham – all feature on the album. I recorded this at Sounds Reasonable off Dupont Circle as part of a live acoustic in-house concert in 1979. I had heard the Lovin’ Spoonful play the song and loved it, so I grabbed it and ran with it. It’s just me, my lovely, wonderful and beat-up Martin D-18, and my feet playing a homemade drum my long-time friend and sound man Mike Leeper created for me. He used different woods to generate two distinct sounds, a ‘kick drum’ and a ‘snare drum.’ We had lots of versions of the thing – this was the best by far. No effects, no overdubs, just me playing solo, always my favorite adventure. Enjoy and spread it around, please.
