Planet Section pulls together sounds that don’t quite sit still. Things rub the wrong way, rhythms slip, pressure builds and spills over. It’s messy on purpose, nothing lines up clean, nothing resolves the way it should.

There’s a sense of push and drag throughout, like everything’s slightly out of sync but still moving. Some parts hit hard, others hang in the air a little too long. It holds that space where things start to bend, but don’t fully break.

It’s different energies crossing, clashing, coexisting for a moment before drifting off again.

This lecture discusses key ideas John Searle's article "Minds, Brains, & Programs", first published in The Behavioral And Brain Sciences In 1980, considered to be an important contribution to theorizing about the possibility and nature of artificial intelligence, not least by introducing his famous "Chinese Room" thought experiment. 

Specifically it examines the clarifications about the notion of "understanding" Searle thinks are needed to make at that point in the article, given that strong AI claims are made about a computer being able to "understand" stories.

This lecture discusses key ideas John Searle's article "Minds, Brains, & Programs", first published in The Behavioral And Brain Sciences In 1980, considered to be an important contribution to theorizing about the possibility and nature of artificial intelligence, not least by introducing his famous "Chinese Room" thought experiment. 

Specifically it examines his response to one of the replies made by proponents of strong AI claims, which he calls the "systems reply', and which he considers to be rather implausible.
