Since spring 2023 I have been writing and recording mainly as a "one man band", using acoustic & electric guitars, bass guitar, keyboards, an old piano, conga, etc. and a voice.
Former member of German bands: In Rags (with Sami Yli-Sirniö and Roman Keymer), Sharkpool and Dutch bands Garbitsjkeng, The Wit, Trio van Putten and and a few others. I baptized my Alter Ego and named him "Pot Barley".

I grew up learning one rule: don’t stand out.

But the part of me that had to stay quiet never disappeared - it became Schattenkind.

Today, music is my therapy — my way of processing the heavy stuff and turning it into something powerful: groovy, hypnotic energy that keeps me moving forward.

If you’ve ever felt small, quiet, or unseen, my music is for you. If you hear my music and feel connection, release, freedom, then we’re already on the same journey.

Every lyric across the album was written by Bob, who also handled full production duties to ensure the record’s cohesive sound and vision.

The sessions were recorded at Bob Craypoe’s Crackle and Hiss Studios in Stillwater Township, New Jersey—a place where raw creativity and authenticity meet. Adding a rich and unexpected dimension to the project, the strings were performed by members of the Crandon Lakes Philharmonic Orchestra, giving the album moments of orchestral depth alongside its grittier tones.

The guest list spans across genres, featuring country pickers, punk rebels, seasoned rockers, and soulful blues musicians. This mix of backgrounds creates a dynamic listening experience, with each track carrying the spirit of collaboration while staying true to the working-class stories and heartfelt grit captured in Bob’s lyrics.

At its heart, this is a testament to the power of music as a shared language—rooted in tradition yet unafraid to cross boundaries, and always grounded in the voice of the people.
