The Spring selection mix

Joining our ever-increasing release archive this April, Stuttgart duo Tomi&Kesh make their joint debut on Black Seven Music alongside fast-rising Venezuelan talent, Santiago Bejarano. Heavily regarded by many in the Tech House universe, the Nozzo frontmen are known for their distinctive and captivating audio signature - which is out in full force for ‘Timeless Sound’. Joining them on the release are our trusty chieftains, BRODYR and Libero label boss Luke Welsh.

Opening with the Original Mix - a track full of gusto and cadence - ‘Timeless Sound’ definitely sets out to do what it says on the box. Drawing noticeable inspiration from iconic vocal house cuts of days gone by, it blends old and new school groove-driven house music. Comprising layers of percussive flair that sit above a catchy sub-bass melody and punchy kicks, this is terrace-ready Tech House at it’s finest.

Kicking on, brothers BRODYR serve up an electrifying re-do of the original cut. It comes with a keen focus on roaring low-frequency rumble and climatic builds - met with appropriate force, throwing you deep back into the groove time and time again.

Closing the show in a big way, Libero’s Luke Welsh delivers a stripped-back rendition worthy of any packed basement dancefloor. Bursting at the seams with attitude and insatiable appeal, it’s fat-bottomed persona makes it virtually impossible not to move. Bringing to the table a robust remix, crammed wall to wall with groove and energy, and a firm reminder of why he is on a steep trajectory within the UK scene (and further afield).

Next up on Black Seven Music, we are back with another volume of our Summer VA. Seven delightful dancefloor heaters with an array of different vibes, showcasing work from some of the label’s favourite artists from around the world.



Label bosses BRODYR kick things off with ‘Tell Me If You Like’, wasting no time in setting the pace. Full-bodied and then some, with rump-shaking energy driven by its heavyweight kicks and rough-edged baseline. Quirky glitch percs and masterfully constructed vocal chops amplify its energy even further. As far as prime-time club tracks go, this one's way up there.



Nic Zega and Victor Valora’s ‘Ximena’ features an impressively weighty cadence. Gritty rolling Tech House with attitude-full bass and synth constructions to match its pounding drum programming, broken up with dreamy atmospheric bridges and hammering drops. 



Martino Resi’s ‘The Music’ is a pacy and driving Tech number with a stripped-back interplanetary feel. Arpeggiated synth lines and dreamy pads make an unusually strong accomplice to its roaring low-frequency punch, tied together with an ethereal spoken vocal. 



‘Aces High’ gives us a taste of Lokia’s boisterous production palate. Gritty synths and a rough sub melody strike through the track’s bed of shuffled groove and crisp hat strikes. Brute UK Tech house at its finest, leaving it all on the table and armed for peak-time crowds.



Nicolas Caprile’s ‘Rhythm Of Love’ has a dark and eerie persona, with smatterings of techno influence in places. Entirely hypnotic from start to finish, with every single element of the track contributing to its enslaving rhythm in some way. Pulsating, potent, and largely unparalleled. 



‘Make Ya Mind Up’ sees Copasetic deliver an uptempo and hard-hitting contribution. Thudding kicks and super-deep sub-bass, accompanied by layered tonal percussion, contagious buildups, and weighty drops. A high-energy-pumper with a raw feel and hypnotic elements throughout. 



BOSHER closes off the release with an unsurprisingly robust offering. Driven by masterfully crafted vocal constructions, the track rides the wave of piercing hats and a bounding bassline from start to finish. Another high-octane rhythmic weapon for packed-out club spaces the world over!

Barcelona natives Greck B & Anko A's latest work features two original cuts and a remix from label frontmen BRODYR; the Spanish duo's debut release makes a pleasant addition to the label's blossoming releases so far in 2021.

Call Me opens the release with a positive and feel-good aura. Summertime synths and a sultry female vocal drive the percussive-laden drum work and sizzling hat grooves, making for a delightfully more-ish terrace style roller.

Brothers BRODYR follow the title track with a remix that cuts a slightly darker and more underground line. Featuring ample amounts of big-room tribal tech-style rhythm, it's a potent club-ready jam with an undeniably dance-worthy presence.

I'm Berserk closes the release with yet more attention-grabbing personality. Another melodically-led rolling tech jam featuring funk-inspired elements completes a duo of prominently energetic tracks from two of Spain's finest production exports.

Greck B, Anko A - Call Me (BRODYR Remix)

The next release on Black Seven Music comes from Libero and Zest Records frontman Mike Morrisey. He delivers his two-track ‘No Gas’ EP with an additional remix from label bosses, BRODYR.

Opening the release, ‘No Gas’ exhibits archetypal shards of the sonic blueprint that has made Libero and Mike so popular over the last few years. Enhanced focus on percussive constructions and rhythmic flair, candent FX and sampling, robust grooves and tough drums - it has it all.

BRODYR’s remix of the title track follows, taking things deeper and darker. Its slightly more stripped-back approach creates room for the addition of weighty melodics and driving bass that accentuate the track’s groove-led persona; a hefty vibe-setter with attention-stealing synths and atmospheric breaks.

‘Positive Melon’ brings the release to a close with uptempo gusto and more dancefloor-ready energy. Rippling percs and rolling drums bounce over the top of its roaring sub and pulsating synth injections. Another standout piece of music from Mike - firmly reminding us why he is one of the industry’s fastest-rising names.

Black Seven frontmen Dave and Mike, A.K.A BRODYR, return to their spiritual home for a long-awaited legacy release this summer. Giving us a slice of the foundational elements of one of Tech House’s fastest-rising labels, the Welsh duo turns in a trio of tracks built around a bed of cadent rhythms and sophisticated musicality.

The latest music from Welsh brother duo BRODYR.

Wales is a country that has produced its fair share of musical talent over the years. Some of the world’s biggest recording artists have been proud to call the small British nation their home and when it comes to electronic music, some of the industry’s heaviest hitters and most influential characters have also been produced within the Welsh borders, none more so than dance music royalty Sasha and Paradise and Hot Creations head honcho Jamie Jones. The latest talent to stand up and be noticed is the North Wales double act BRODYR.

BRODYR, the Welsh word for brothers, is the musical alias of the sibling partnership of Mike and Dave Blackwell. Although only started in September 2015, the seeds for the BRODYR project were planted a lot longer ago than the four years it has been in operation. With both brothers showing a clear inclination for music from an early age, each learning to play the piano by ear, their path into the electronic music industry was cemented by regular trips to Ibiza, first with their parents as children and later, into their teens and beyond, with friends. Heavily influenced by some of the Balearic Island’s most recognisable faces, in particular Carl Cox and Marco Carola, BRODYR have developed their own unique style that encompasses the full techno spectrum, ranging from minimal to tech house and everything else in between.

Having played their very first gig in Space Ibiza, big things were always likely to follow for BRODYR. Following up their debut performance with appearances in some of Europe’s biggest clubbing institutions, BRODYR have become regulars at The Warehouse Project and have also played venues like EGG London, as well as performances at festivals such as Parklife, Manchester, and Hideout, Croatia. Appearing on lineups for these brands often sees BRODYR sharing bills with some of the industry’s biggest and most in demand names, never seeming out of place while rubbing shoulders with artists like Darius Syrossian, wAFF, Latmun and Michael Bibi. BRODYR are also currently residents for nghtwrk, one of Chester’s most popular and forward thinking club brands.

Not just DJs, BRODYR have added a very significant production feather to their cap. Calling on all of their experience and musical influences, the duo have honed their skills and taken the time to find their true sound and in November 2015 released their first track, Parallel Universe, on CRAFT Underground. Since then, the brothers have enjoyed a whole range of successful releases and are currently signed to some of the scene’s best respected labels, including Pure Enjoyment Recordings, New Violence Records, High Pressure Music, Mushroom Smile Records, Be Color Music and Libero, as well as launching their own imprint, Black Seven Music.

With a number of local and international bookings already confirmed, as well as a catalog of music awaiting release, it is easy to see why BRODYR have been labeled as “one to watch” for the remainder of this year and beyond. The future is bright for these Welsh brothers, watch this space for more to come.
