After a VERY long time and several full re-recordings later, I'm proud to show my cover of Between the Buried and Me's song "Breathe in, Breathe Out".  

I originally started this back in 2016 as a bootleg I never finished when I was at school on an old laptop with Logic 9.  The original song is the song after my favourite song of all time on their album "Alaska", and it's just a short instrumental guitar piece that was easy to sample.  The bootleg I'd done was just made by looping a few sections and messing with the audio after that, but when I revisited it in 2023, I thought it would be cool to re-record all the guitar parts myself and just call it a cover.  At this point, there are no parts of the original song at all, every guitar part was recorded myself and everything you hear was arranged and produced/mixed/mastered by me.

Without going into detail, the past few months have been a rollercoaster for me on a personal level and learning to play this song has turned into a really therapeutic process.  It was the first time in years that I'd looked up tabs for a song and sat down to practice with a metronome on a daily basis.  As I learned it, I found bits and pieces I would play differently than the tabs and after a while I kind of turned it into my own version - so technically it's not a perfect cover.  The process of starting at slower tempos and learning the nuances of the song gave me a whole new appreciation of the songwriting and Paul Waggoner's guitar playing in BTBAM.  I've seen them play live a bunch of times, but I've never seen them play this before because it's not one of their more popular songs.  It always stuck out to me as something unique in their back catalog though, so I'm happy to be able to give it new life.

I made this for myself first and foremost, but hopefully I did it justice and it resonates with some people.
