A special mix indeed, with most of these tracks holding a special place in my heart. It was during 2004-2005 when I was younger and had such a deep love for this music. 2005 brought a shift in the hard trance sound, blending genres like tech trance and hardstyle. Tracks like "Edge Of Darkness" by Teknoid felt like the offspring of hard trance and hardcore—a thrilling fusion of sounds. I used to sit for hours, listening to mix CDs from artists like Nik Fish, Amber Savage, and Archie, completely captivated by the energy of harder dance music... and still today. Many stand out tracks, "Dirty Summer", "Never Sever", and "Infectious" to name but a few.

Donovan Schmidt is the artist behind one of the Midwests most avant-garde and creatively inspired projects, HeDawn. An experienced DJ with roots in chopped-and-screwed hip-hop, HeDawn has taken the dark and lumbering tones made famous by the late DJ Screw to an extreme and impressive conclusion: an experimental, bass-heavy collage of sounds that resembles no other artist.
