We are very happy to present you a special release from gutinstinct! After his contribution ‚Eternal Jungle’ on the 10 year anniversary compilation ‚Down The Danube River’, he returns to Fortunea Records with the Back To The Roots EP. A collection of tracks suitable for different moments in a clubbing environment.

The record opens with his melodious and emotional expression of ‚Art‘. This energetic track forces us to sink into venturesome sound waves driven by a dark but at the same time warm pad. A beautiful catchy synthesizer hook line is the icing on the cake on top of it.

Similar tonal but not as uplifting as the opener is the title-track of this EP. A simple, grooving, relentless and continuously deep journey that exemplifies gutinstinct’s profound innate understanding of rhythmic grooves and complexity in simplicity.

Sensuous chills and thrills continue with ‚Pueblo’ on the B-side. A constantly rolling and evolving piece of synth laden ecstasy with richness and colour, driven by the sort of thick analogue basslines and distinctive melodies that have come to define his catalogue.

Lastly, the record closes out with a remix of the title-track by the analogue gear enthusiast Jakobin. In this version he takes the beautiful arpeggio synth sounds and amalgamates them into a framework of lo-fi house aesthetics. You can just imagine this track slicing through an unbent sunset dance floor or morning afterhour ceremonies.

The Back To The Roots EP will be available on august 1st, 2025 digital and on limited vinyl.

I discovered techno at an early age, and it was the first genre of music that truly resonated with me. Every encounter with independent techno during my childhood left an indelible mark on my soul. Techno has always occupied my thoughts, and even amidst my daily routines, it remains a constant presence in my mind.

For me, techno is all about its raw, unrefined essence. It's the purest form of music, devoid of complicated melodic lines, built on simple sequences arranged in a four-beat grid. It's a hypnotic blend of looping voice samples, drums, and percussion, each element carving out its own space in the mix, all driven by a deep, dominating kick that ties everything together.

My goal is simple: to play music that excites me for people who want to hear it. It's a shared experience, a mutual pleasure that fuels my passion for DJing.

Odkryłem techno w młodym wieku i był to pierwszy gatunek muzyki, który naprawdę do mnie przemówił. Każde spotkanie z niezależnym techno w dzieciństwie pozostawiło niezatarty ślad w mojej duszy. Techno zawsze zajmowało moje myśli i nawet pośród moich codziennych czynności pozostaje stale obecne w moim umyśle.

Dla mnie techno to przede wszystkim surowa, nieoszlifowana forma, najczystsza forma muzyki, pozbawiona złożonych linii melodycznych, zbudowana na prostych sekwencjach. To hipnotyczna mieszanka zapętlonych sampli głosowych i perkusyjnych, wszystko napędzane jest głębokim, dominującym kopnięciem, które łączy wszystko w całość.

Mój cel jest prosty: grać muzykę, która mnie ekscytuje dla ludzi, którzy chcą jej słuchać. To wspólne doświadczenie, wzajemna przyjemność, która napędza moją pasję do bycia DJ-em.

Klaus Benedek grew up in a small town near Vienna. His interest in electronic music began during the 90s techno hype. He spent hours watching video clips on MTV and viva and thus gaining knowledge about electronic music. In 2004, he began teaching himself to produce. Gathering his inspiration wherever he could, he began collecting 12" vinyl records the same year and 2 years later got his first dj-gigs. From 2008 till 2010 he was one of the resident DJs at the MNML Thursdays in the Camera Club. In 2012 he started with Alex Kolodziej the event-series Tellerbetrieb. Currently he finds most of his inspiration in Chicago House, Deep House, Disco and Breakbeat. After releases on labels like Petrol Dollar, Subversaal, rekooda, Soul Shift Music, Clean and Dirty Recordings and tanzbar, Klaus launched his own label forTunea in 2014.
