Welcome to the premiere of my work Baroque Suite for Wise Women (Les femmes savantes), based on the literary work of Molière.
Through a suite (actually composed of a series of variations), based on two popular French themes: Follie de Spagne and Une jeune fillete (of ancient Italian origin) I have drawn a courtly atmosphere with typical prints from the 17th century. The presence of these themes is very common in compositions for European courts, but essentially the court of the Sun King (Louis XIV), a great dancer, patron and lover of the arts, for whom Molière worked. Composers such as Marin Marais, Jean Battiste Lully and Marc Antoine Charpentier made music for the court, both sacred and secular, with variations on the two aforementioned themes being abundant in the latter group.

 My intention with this work has been to pay tribute to both these composers, Molière himself, author of The Wise Women, the Óscar 69 theater group and the San Javier theater group, as well as the town of San Javier itself, champion of Spanish culture , so important thing in these times. To do this, I have created this small suite, respecting the fundamental characteristics of the French style of the time of Louis XIV.

For this recording, exact replicas of instruments of the time used in the French court of Louis XIV: archlute in G, theorbo in A and a baroque guitar. The recording session happened in the Argos studio (Pilar de la Horadada, Alicante, Spain), specialized in recording historical instruments, by the composer of this suite himself.
