Bell Curve is back with another EP of boundary-pushing bass sounds, Magick, dropping July 9th on her new Raspberry Rhythms imprint. A lauded producer of playful yet finely honed bass music, Bell Curve’s most recent releases have seen praise in Bandcamp’s “Best Electronic Music of the Month” columns, DJ Mag, and more.

This EP sees Bell Curve continue in her diverse and distinctive musical approach, while expanding into new territory incorporating her own vocals into her productions. Namely, “Crush”, a sultry sub-wobbling roller featuring sprinkles of her murmuring, and “Magick (butterflies in my stomach)”, a playful narration of a night out to DJ, replete with Uber rides, friend coordination, and music-induced journeys through self love and hatred, insecurity, dreams, haters, and more, all the while anchored by the thumping, heavy 160 bpm beat. The rest of the EP touches on similarly diverse territory, like “New Me”, a majestic, vaguely halftime electro roller with incisive punches of bass, “Rollercoaster”, a high-octane, candy-coated grime track, and “Off The Net”, a playful but ironic footwork jungle ode to the terminally online.

Bell Curve’s productions defy simple categorization, pulling a wide range of bass-driven genres through her prismatic lens, and Magick EP is a further flex of her dynamism and eagerness to color outside the lines. With inspirations ranging from soundsystem culture and the hardcore continuum to raving, sci-fi, and beyond, her music is full of familiar sounds conceived in a new and uniquely personal way. The New York-based, Texas-raised producer is a “vanguard of the modern bass movement in North America” (Inverted Audio), and her prolific and wide-ranging output has earned her spotlight features on BBC 6 Music, releases on labels like Moveltraxx, Seilscheibenpfeiler (SSPB), and Dome of Doom, a SWU FM / Rinse FM radio residency, and more. With a plethora of music coming down the pipeline from Bell Curve, fans of her work have much to look forward to this year.

Eelco’s taste in music has always been eclectic. He has been passionate about music from an early age, drawn to a wide range of sounds, from indie, rock, metal, jazz to hip-hop and drum & bass. But everything changed when he experienced his first AWAKENINGS techno party in Amsterdam over 20 years ago. That day, he had an epiphany! The pulsating energy, the hypnotic rhythms they were a calling.
From that moment on, he became addicted to the raw, driving force of Techno and Electro.
