Fanontale is an AU that takes inspiration from Undertale fanon perceptions by using it to influence the roles the beloved characters take, as well as manifesting in-universe, affecting the characters and their stories.
This is not an Undertale AU about "What if Undertale fanon was good", but rather one that seeks to answer the question of "what if fanon perceptions had direct consequences for the lives these characters live?"

Reader (Y/N) takes Chara's role. They're the narrator, and from now on, they've promised to be a bit nicer, perhaps even helpful, because they know Chara'll need all the help they can get. While it's entirely possible for them to fall back into their old habits, they're trying, and that's what matters. Who knows, maybe they'll start to get along a bit more!

Reader (Y/N) takes Chara’s role. They’re an esoteric and cryptic being whose very nature is shrouded in darkness, yet they’re someone who seems very acquainted with the nature of this world. They seem to behave as if they know all of the people here, being especially familiar with Chara’s “evil nature”. They therefore act as Chara’s narrator, making snide comments and sometimes on a rare occasion actually being helpful. Though Chara didn’t ask for help. And doesn’t appreciate being called evil.

PREMIERE | Sherman C. - If I'm Ok [RCTD003]

In 2021, Eastern Michigan University Archives lecturer Matt Jones began documenting the story of Ypsilanti’s Human Rights Ordinance #1279 in an effort to explore the ways in which local queer activism has evolved multi-generationally in Ypsilanti. What began as a refusal of service by a local print shop to a small EMU student group quickly turned into a years-long battle over who was deserving of basic human rights. To the LGBTQ activists and community members documented here, they had always been present in the community: working, paying taxes, painting their houses, mowing their lawns, attending council meetings, and even serving on council. This ordinance battle was about more than just LGBT rights—it was about protecting the human rights of all Ypsilantians. On March 21, 2022, Jones talked to outspoken activist, community organizer, and participant in the ordinance campaigns, Charles Duty. Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Duty found himself in Ypsilanti in the 1980s, when life was becoming more and more expensive in his hometown. At an early age he was taught what discrimination is, and why it is wrong, and he continued to carry those lessons into adulthood. In Ypsi, Duty became familiar with local organizations and city officials, working with them to change the quality of life for everyone. After hearing about the print shop incident, he took the initiative to become an outspoken and highly-visible advocate for the ordinance campaigns, learning how to keep marching and living authentically. In this interview, Duty shares some of the finer details of LGBTQ life in Ypsi before and after the ordinance, expands on his connections to political figures and groups, and reiterates the importance of standing up for oneself and others.

Between the Lines explores the intersection of local and national issues. This episode discusses Newburyport's gentrification -- its positives and negatives, and what it means for the city's culture. We also discuss cultural evolution on a national scale, and why despite objectively positive change, people always seem to long for the past.

James Charles Roy is an author and historian with 8 books to his credit, and a new one coming out this fall. He's also written articles in both academic and popular journals. Some viewers might remember him for his biweekly newsletter, The Newburyport Liberator, that he launched mainly to annoy the then mayor, which he succeeded in doing. He has been deeply involved in the community: he sat on the board of the Newburyport Library renovation committee; spent thirty frustrating years as chair of the mayor's Parking and Traffic Committee, whose triumphant finale was the creation of the downtown parking garage, the whole point of which was to remove cars from the waterfront. Today's wonderful park by the river is the direct result of that effort. And he co-chaired the committee that created Newburyport's only Local Historic District.

John Giordano is a visual artist, writer, and coach. He started Ramp Coaching in 206, while he was a professor at Merrimack College. He has started numerous community-based educational access programs in Philadelphia and Boston focused on college access for first generation college students. He has served as board president of Theater in the Open, and has volunteered for many arts education organizations, as well as local political campaigns. John is the co-founder of Indivisible, a Newburyport area group focused on strengthening democracy. He is currently working on an initiative to create access to coaching for a wide array of people.

She began her career as a newspaper feature writer for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and the Hartford Courant.

Dave Rogers joined the Daily News of Newburyport in 2010 as its court/breaking news reporter and was promoted to editor in July, 2022. He lives in Newburyport with his 16-year-old daughter.

Connie and her husband Tom have lived in Newburyport for 11 years with their rescue hounds. Connie spends her spare time volunteering for many organizations in the Newburyport area and is currently training to become a court advocate for people experiencing domestic violence after her term on the Council ends.

Jared Hubbard is the co-chair of the Newburyport Democratic City Committee. A native Texan and father of three, Jared moved to Newburyport nearly a decade ago to raise his kids here. Outside of local politics, Jared is a lawyer for a Swedish software company and an adjunct professor at Northeastern University School of Law.

The Underground has been overcome by a dangerous prophecy, one that has spread like wildfire. The Absolute will come- and they will usher in a new era. Some think of them as the end of the world, the final nail in the coffin for monsterkind, and others idolise them to an absurd extent, heralding them as their new god. 

Watch Chara, the fallen a̶n̶g̶e̶l̶ human, have to fight their way out of these perceptions and distortions, and maybe uncover the truest version of themselves along the way.
