A few weeks ago I shared a rough demo of a narrative song, "Valentina."

"Sleeping Soundly" is the sequel to "Valentina."

So far I've got drums, guitars and bass. This is likely the pre-vocals mix I will use, over which I will record the vocals imminently.

This song was born from a prompt in the How to Write Songs community. The prompt: Write a song that can be played over/through/in a scene in a movie or TV show.

I had several ideas, but after much thought I decided to write a new song for the opening of the original "Cannonball Run" movie. 

Fun fact: There's another version of this song that I've recorded that incorporates clips of the Lamborghini Countach's V12 revving up as it goes up the gears.

Fun fact # 2: Funny thing about that V12 at full cry: It actually blends in with the guitars on the song! It's as if they're singing in harmony. I had no idea that was going to happen when I was writing this song.

Where Are You Now?

"Wobbleknee," as a word, is a creature of pure invention (as far as I know). But it expresses a very specific idea: a state of disorientation and a loss of equilibrium so intense that a hard fall seems inevitable.

Written over a period of around nine days (much of which was spent just programming drums in my DAW), "Wobbleknee" has actually existed as a song idea for several years now. The invented word itself was scrawled into one of my songwriting ideas notebooks, and it has lived in a corner of my mind ever since, just waiting for the song itself to complete its gestation and be born.
