<<< Pt. 2 >>> Greetings all massive! On this set I revisit my tribute series and select one of my all time favorite reggae groups, the Black Sounds of Freedom....Black Uhuru. For those of you not familiar with the group, Black Uhuru is a Jamaican reggae group initially known as Uhuru (Swahili for 'freedom') formed in 1972 in the Waterhouse (aka Firehouse) area of Kingston, Jamaica. The legendary Black Uhuru is one the most popular successful reggae groups to come out of Jamaica, but the group has undergone several line-up changes over the years, with Derrick "Duckie" Simpson as the mainstay. In 1977 Michael Rose took over the duties of load vocals, and the group now took the name Black Sounds Uhuru later changed to Black Uhuru. The band has always had a militant style that informed their lyrics, music, and onstage presentation. They are responsible for some of reggae biggest hits and anthems in the late 70's and early 80's that are still loved by millions of fans today. This tribute focuses on the Michael Rose era of the band ranging from 1977-1984. Included on this tribute are some of my favorite classics, rarities & dub versions for your musical enjoyment. Crafting my compositions involves a symphony of talents—I wield the bass and guitar, orchestrate intricate drum sequences, and meticulously refine each track through digital mixing and mastering. My creative palette draws inspiration from a diverse array of musical luminaries including Lee Scratch Perry, Beastie Boys, Mad Professor, Bad Brains, and the legendary Bob Marley. Yet, it's the camaraderie with my peers, such as Soul Doctor and Mineral K, that enriches my musical perspective.

Despite facing the challenge of deafness, my sonic sensibilities remain razor-sharp, infusing each note with palpable intensity and emotion. In live sessions, the essence of Reverse Side productions comes to life, as we unveil a repertoire brimming with original songs, dubs, and bespoke productions.

My journey has intertwined with the trajectories of both modern icons and revered legends in the realms of reggae and hip-hop. Sharing stages with luminaries like Afu Ra, General Levy, and Queen Omega, I've traversed continents, leaving an indelible mark on audiences worldwide. Collaborating with esteemed sound systems, I've embraced the ethos of Words, Sound, Power—ready to ignite hearts and minds with the transcendent force of music.
