This lecture discusses key ideas from the 20th century German philosopher, sociologist of knowledge, and phenomenologist, Max Scheler's work Ressentiment, which provides an interpretation of Friedrich Nietzsche's concept of that same name. It focuses on on his discussion about how "value blindness" and "value delusion" figure into the dynamic of ressentiment. In the course of this discussion, Scheler references his earlier work Formalism in Ethics and Non-Formal Ethics of Values, where he develops these concepts in relation to hierarchies of values.

Dr. Aneri Shah Ambani, a distinguished Vitreo-Retina Surgeon renowned for her clinical, surgical, and academic excellence, shares key insights from her medical research, Diabetes and Preventable Blindness: Early Detection, Intervention, and Awareness, emphasizing the vital importance of early diagnosis and public awareness in preventing vision loss.

Dr. Aneri is currently practicing at Core Vision Eye Clinic, Ahmedabad, and also serves at the Center for Sight and GMERS Medical College. She has previously worked as a Vitreo-Retina and (Uveitis) Specialist at Tej Eye Centre, Gandhinagar.

A Gold Medalist in M.S. Ophthalmology from Gujarat University, Dr. Shah has trained at premier institutes including L.V. Prasad Eye Institute (Hyderabad), Sankara Eye Hospital (Bangalore), and internationally at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and Harvard University. She has performed over 200 vitreo-retinal surgeries and 1000 ophthalmic surgeries independently, with special expertise in paediatric retina diseases like ROP, FEVR, and Coat's disease, uveitis management, diabetic retinopathy, and complex retinal detachments.

An accomplished academic, she has several peer-reviewed publications and has presented her work at national and international forums like the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and Turkey Ophthalmic Society. She is a recipient of the prestigious NEWGEN Grant for research in keratoconus diagnosis and is a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO, UK). A life member of various organizations, Dr. Shah remains actively engaged in advancing her field through research, presentations, and continuing medical education.
