Britain has been through a difficult period since the global financial crisis, leading many to conclude the country is doomed to inevitable decline. But Jeremy Hunt, who was at the top of government as both Foreign Secretary and Chancellor, disagrees. In his new book, Can We Be Great Again?, he sets out to rebut those who think Britain is no longer capable of shaping the world we live in.

With the election of president Trump, a world that was already becoming more dangerous has also become more unpredictable. But when it comes to the big challenges facing the world – whether on European security, the future of democracy, migration, trade and climate – the UK remains one of the most influential countries and should, Hunt says, use that influence wisely. Hunt does not shy away from the UK’s weaknesses but argues that they should be considered in perspective and without underestimating this country’s many strengths.

To discuss his new book and the questions it raises, Jeremy Hunt was in conversation with Dr Hannah White, Director and CEO of the Institute for Government.

मुख्य संदेश: लेखिका आभा युवने का मुख्य संदेश यह है कि "हर लड़की को पहले self-dependent होना चाहिए, जिससे तुम्हें कल किसी के सामने 1 रुपये के लिए भी हाथ नहीं फैलाना पड़े।" वे इस बात पर जोर देती हैं कि यह सिर्फ एक बात नहीं, बल्कि उनकी ज़िंदगी का सबसे बड़ा सबक है जिसे वे सभी तक पहुँचाना चाहती हैं।

पुस्तक का उद्देश्य:

लोगों की मदद करना और खुद को अभिव्यक्त करना।
अपनी कहानी और सीख उन लड़कियों तक पहुँचाना जो अपने सपनों को पूरा करने की कोशिश कर रही हैं या खुद को अकेला और बेबस महसूस कर रही हैं।
समाज में कुछ ऐसी बातों पर खुलकर बात करना जो आमतौर पर छिपी रहती हैं (जैसे परिवार से जुड़ी कुछ बातें)।
2. आभा युवने का बचपन और शुरुआती सपने
आभा का बचपन किताबों और पढ़ाई के प्रति गहरे लगाव से भरा था। "बचपन के दिन, जब आँखें खुली थीं और सपनों ने पंख फैलाने शुरू किए थे, तब मुझे लगता था मेरी दुनिया सिर्फ़ किताबों से बनी है।"

पठन-लेखन में रुचि: उन्हें पढ़ना और लिखना बेहद पसंद था। किताबें, पेंसिल, पेन उनके खिलौने थे।
शिक्षक बनने का सपना: उनका सबसे बड़ा सपना एक शिक्षिका बनना था, जो बच्चों को सिर्फ़ पढ़ाए नहीं, बल्कि उन्हें "सपनों का रास्ता दिखाए"।
B.Sc. करने की ख्वाहिश: विशेष रूप से, उन्हें B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) करने का बहुत बड़ा सपना था। विज्ञान के विषयों में उनकी ख़ास रुचि थी और वे स्वयं को एक वैज्ञानिक या विज्ञान की शिक्षिका के रूप में देखती थीं। "मेरे लिए वह सिर्फ़ एक डिग्री नहीं थी, वह मेरे भविष्य का रास्ता था, मेरे सपनों की नींव थी।"
