This Custom Shop SG came to me very cheap because the headstock was broken. I spent the last two weeks stripping it down and reparing it. Put it back together yeasterday and played some bottleneck on it. I put her through two delay units, tiddling the knobs as I played!

Rond het jaar 1900 werkten de allerarmsten op de katoenplantages  in de Mississippi Delta in de Verenigde Staten. Om de blues te kunnen spelen maakten ze gebruik van de materialen die voor hen bereikbaar waren zoals de weggegooide sigarendozen van de plantagehouders. Door zo'n doos samen te voegen met een bezemsteel en daar vaak drie snaren aan toe te voegen maakten zij de Cigarbox guitar.

Tegenwoordig zouden we makkelijker een gitaar kunnen aanschaffen maar wat is er nou leuker dan het maken van een eigen gitaar en dat ook eens van een sigarendoos?

Hans Wensveen is zo iemand die altijd al zelf een gitaar had willen bouwen. Enige tijd geleden voegde hij de daad bij het woord en bouwde hij samen met een groep vrienden en bekenden onder begeleiding van Henri Grootenhuis, ook wel Cigarbox Henri genoemd, een akoestische, drie-snarige cigarbox-gitaar waar ze ook nog eens leerden om er op te spelen.
