This month's Get2kno is an ode to legendary record shop DnR Vinyl - the only garage specialist store still standing, which also happens to be in the small neighbourhood of Croydon where I grew up. Pretty much every DJ in the game has stepped through its doors since it opened back in the early 2000s to have a dig through the thousands of second hand oldskool gems and exclusive new releases collected by owners Dan n Rob since they were teenagers. 

I went down to the shop to chat to Dan about the origins of his music obsession and the importance of keeping small shops like his alive. We go back to his days as a 14 year old getting his mum to buy the latest vinyls from the prestigious Big Apple record store in Croydon 🍎, to his uni days where he spent every penny of his student loan on vinyl 💰, to the present day where small labels such as Elijah's 'Butterz' are a crucial support 🫂.

DnR is underground incarnate - fully DIY, no frills, no viral videos, just decades of unadulterated love and dedication to the music. The garage scene has never gone away despite its revival in recent years and the shop has helped preserve it from where it all began.

Dan doesn’t do interviews often so it was a real privilege to get to hear and share his stories. Anyone who’s listened to the show will able to tell that he’s an incredibly humble guy despite being deeply respected by everyone in the scene and one of the biggest oracles of music knowledge in the business. UKG legends Jeremy Sylvester, Lady Passion , Perception + Vibesey shared their personal stories: Dan goes above and beyond, helping start labels and pressing new releases as well as putting his all into the shop and website.

The interview clips are interwoven with a mix of entirely UKG - mostly oldskool - by me 🤓, including some tracks recommended by Dan himself 🔥. It’s kinda like podcast meets a mix 🤝.  Tracks by Tuff Jam, Damian C, Mike Millrain, Groove Chronicles, El-B, Eliza Rose, K-Lone and more.

i think of this set as a representation and reflection of my production since being back from my Europe adventure in 2023.    
There's a couple unheard freshys in this recording that you would've only heard in my live dj sets the later months of the year so it's cool to now share them through this audio journey. 

This set was the steeze, closing up the Friday night antics. 
All the homies in viewing with a proper passionate crowd till the conclusion of the night.

Haber is a Naarm-based producer, DJ, event architect and label head crafting hypnotic, high-pressure soundscapes that dissolve genre boundaries. His sets trace a shadowy arc from 128 to 175 BPM, blending deep techno, psy-tech and psychedelic prog into immersive, body-guided journeys.

With over a decade behind decks and machines, Haber has shaped floors across Naarm and beyond, channeling energy at bush gatherings and festivals including Esoteric, Interstellar Groove, Festival 23, Astralientech, and Rainbow Serpent (Renegade Stage). 
With international transmissions reaching Tokyo and Seoul.
In 2023, a European adventure brought a refined direction to his journey, connecting with new artists, communities, soaking inspiration, and performing in Portugal and at Wicked Wonderland Gathering in Norway.

Through his collective Capture and label Imminatia Recordings, he platforms experimental voices from the fringes of electronic music. 

Imminatia Recordings release catalogue includes his own conceptual albums, Manifestation of the Celestial and Dalton Driver in the Land of the Lonesome. Works that explore altered states and layered dimensions.

With past releases on respected labels such as Techgnosis, Alpaka Muzik, and Software Zero Music, Haber is now deep in the process of assembling his next full-length album, a continuation of his sonic mythos.

For Haber, music is ritual. 
Each set a portal. Each track, a spell.
