According to the Collins Dictionary, a xyst is a long portico.  Specifically, the word comes from the sort of covered colonade used in ancient Greece for athletics. The word then was adopted by ancient Rome to mean a covered garden walk or one lined with trees.  English acquired the word from Latin "Xystus" which is the plural by which "xyst", in English, was derived from.  

...but none of that is important because this song is about someone existential crisis, and I just wanted to have another song title that began with an "X".  ("WORDS WILL BEND TO MY WILL!!!")  

So, this is Interbay's attempt to produce a trance track--not a psytrance track, but regular old, basic trance.  Of course, fans of trance will point out all the ways that this is NOT trance...  I will grant that--as ever, when attempting to produce a track of any particular genre or in the style of any particular artist, the end result ends up sounding, mostly, like Interbay, more than anything else.  

Typically, if a trance track has vocals at all, it tends to be vaguely spiritual or vaguely positive.  I decided to do the opposite of that (can I coin a new genre name of "anti-trance"? 
 Better to beg forgiveness than coveting permission, so I did it already.)  

This track's vocals is from a character that questions their reality.  Whether they are living in a simulation, or even if THEY are real.  The fact that these vocals sound electronic or robotic gives this a "Is Data from StarTrek a person or a machine?" sort of vibes.  

I think we all want to exist, just as I think that we all fear ceasing to exist.  It seems to be on my mind as I continue to recognize that my growing older means that I'm closer to the end than I am to the beginning.  

Can you dance to that sort of sentiment?  I think you can.  (I sure did as a post-punk, kinda goth, club industrial, darkwave fan...  At my age, I have to admit--I don't dance all that much, to anything, these days.)
