This song began with Chris composing it with his synth, guitar, drum pad and bass. Like many of his songs, it was pretty well formed before the rest of the group got a hold of it. This song was part of a load of songs he shared with the rest of Eclectic Collective all at once. We've been picking them off one by one, though, as we're always grateful to Chris for sharing his magic with us.
  The odd sound of the rhythmic melody, which uses chromatic walks, immediately caught Josh's ears. It struck him as something the Doors might have come up with. So, he set about replacing Chris' simple bass line with something fancier, as well as coming up with the lead guitar for the whole thing, and the lyrics and vocals, as well. Josh was really taken with this one, and heard all kinds of parts in it almost immediately. Ken went to bat next, adding his innovative, John Densmore-like drums to it, replacing Chris' initial rhythmic idea. JJ came next and added the essential piano you hear throughout. After that, Mark found a place for his amazing bassoon/harpsicord solo in the middle. But before it was all over, Chris also added some doubled vocals, too, to actualize the lyrics, which are about two friends taking an acid trip together. 
  After it was all laid down, we asked Tez to mix it for us, which he did in his expert fashion, as always.
  This is our latest song composed by Chris, and we love working on his music. If you dig this, you should pay his page a visit, too, as it's full of diamonds. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Welcome to my page, my peers, associates, friends, and musical family. I'm a lifelong, multi-instrumentalist musician who records prolifically and joyfully. You'll hear me play guitar, bass (regular four string, and four and five string fretless), mandolin, banjo, keys (piano, organ, synth), lap slide, sitar, and sing on my recordings here. I've been in a few dozen bands in my life, playing everything from bluegrass, jazz, rock, jam band, reggae, funk, afrobeat, Middle Eastern, traditional Irish, singer/songwriter, pop/covers, to experimental/avant garde. 
  Since I found SoundCloud a couple years ago, I've found many talented, creative people with whom to create music. However, in the summer of '23 I formed a band called The Eclectic Collective with some of my favorite musicians I've met through here. It started as a loose collective of musicians and coalesced into a core group of musicians who find other musicians with whom we'd like to make music, then run their songs through our process, and in effect add a full band. That core of The Eclectic Collective includes Tez (Llanpsych), J.J. Terrel, Ken (K2 and the Three), Stephen (Texmex Shaman), Chris (cgmaness), and Mark (mistermark). A couple of other musicians are frequent collaborators, as well, including Artur of Surfers Like Us, and Steve Vervaet of Steve's World. More recently, we've been joined by Carl of The Beautiful Dark fame. 
  The magic of music is amplified exponentially by each person adding to it. So, we really try to add our sorcery all kinds of music from all kinds of artists. Sometimes, we keep it within the group, but a lot of what we do is collaboration with other artists. Therefore these days, 100% of what I do is collaboration, within the group or with other artists on the side.
  I, and we, are also available for hire if you have a song or lyrics and you really want to add bigger instrumentation or a band and good production to it. 
  A small sampling of the artists whom I consider primary influences, and whom you will hear coming through my fingers include Phish, The Flaming Lips, The Grateful Dead, Radiohead, Rye Cooder, Steve Earle, Miles Davis, Fela Kuti, Arcade Fire, Mikey Dread, Yellowman, Purpleman, The Meditations, Michigan and Smiley, Lee Perry, Dillinger, Django Reinhardt, Impossible Recording Machine, The Allman Bros Band, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Bela Fleck, Les Claypool, Sam Bush, David Grissman, John Prine, Talking Heads, Beastie Boys, MMW, Moe., Morphine, Ween, Steve Lukather, Michael McDonald, John Abercrombie, Dave Holland, John Scofield, Victor Wooten,  Cannonball Adderly, Thelonious Monk, Flea, Parliament Funkadelic,  Frank Zappa, Prince Paul, Pete Rock, Thievery Corporation, Amon Tobin, Chet Baker, Joao Gilberto, Stan Getz, Astrud Gilberto, Carol Kaye, Tame Impala, Mumford and Sons, Japanese Breakfast, LCD Soundsystem, Beach House, Sean Lennon, and Billy Strings, but of course there are many more. I also really like and am influenced by traditional Iranian, Palestinian, Indian, Sri Lankan, Sudanese, Mauritian, Somalian, Egyptian, West African, and Syrian music. I welcome anyone who plays non-western music to contact me for a collaboration, too.
 I'm overjoyed to have found my community on SoundCloud. This is a truly unique forum where everyone is sincerely trying to build each other up. The profoundly supportive and positive SoundCloud community has really opened up an exciting new world of collaboration for me. That is the main reason I'm in the Cloud, actually, to connect with other musicians and make music that I enjoy listening to, and hopefully others do, as well. I am ALWAYS looking to collaborate with interesting musicians, mostly though BandLab, which is where I record almost exclusively. It's a solid, free digital audio workstation hub where you can share recording projects, even if it's not where you make your recordings.
  Everything I do is live instrumental, not programmed, and using no computer beyond my phone. That's not to say that I would be opposed to using that kind of tool, it's just not my preferred medium with which to paint. If you like my music, please share it. Geschwätz GmbH began coming together in May, 2024 when aspiring DJ and producer, Petra Joy Fischer, met her soul mate, Austrian trumpetist, arranger, singer, rapper, and master brewer, Peter Roland Kuhn, on a platform at Hamburg-Altona Bahnhof en route to the warm-up party for the 2024 Schlagermove festival. From the farmlands outside of Schleswig, Fischer had found office work in Hamburg depressing, and trying to break into the city's saturated DJ and electronic music scene a constant frustration. She subsequently abandoned city life for her new-found love and the mountanous beauty of rural Austria. Already by early June, she had packed down her vinyl collection, grow room, and home studio and re-located permanently to Kuhn's remote home town, the mountain-locked village of Brandt. There the inseparable, reclusive couple began pumping out a wide selection of tracks, employing the services of Kuhn's own talented, Reggae-inspired, home-town, brass schlager band (Die Einheimischen). The resulting musical constellation melds some of the pair's favorite styles: Glitch & Electronica, Ska, Reggae, Dub, Hip Hop, Trip-Hop, Rap, 1940's & '50's Jazz & Swing, Polka, World Music, Analogue & Digital Turntablism, EDM, and German Party-/Pop-/Folk- Schlager. Shortly after meeting, Petra joined Peter on a visit to his brother in Denmark. There the couple met their primary collaborator, musician and co-producer, Jah Bozo, a good friend of Peter's brother. An electronic producer since the 1980's, Jah Bozo, is online live almost daily from Copenhagen with Petra and/or Peter at their home studio deep in the Austria Alps. When Peter's worklife as master brewer at Brandt Bierhalle keeps him from the studio, Petra Joy and Jah Bozo occupy themselves with their own tracks, often collaborating with other band members from Die Einheimischen, particularly the multi-talented Lauer sisters - Birgit and Simone. The production team have recently (Spring/Summer 2025) been recording and producing a bunch of Die Einheimischen's own Reggae-driven Schlager tracks for posterity, fun, and profit. Likewise, Geschwätz is collaborating on tracks with friends and producers around the world. These include The Ruff Mate (UK), SpiceDoubt (Germany), and young South African producer and visual artist, Lesedi Dlamini, from Bantfu Beliciniso. Many of these tracks and collaborations can also be found here (and currently nowhere else). The Crew has determined that it is not in their (or anybody elses') interests to hand their rights off to the mercy of malignant, thieving corporatist overlords and management, and will NOT be signing to either publishing or labels. Geschwätz has chosen to set its own course independantly. So don't even bother asking...! OK?! And stop spamming us, you transparent, scamming fuckers!
