Del Holland, of Iowa City Climate Advocates, talks about CCL’s recent lobbying event in Washington, D.C., and some results stemming from Iowans’ visits to our Congressional representatives.  Del also tells us abut sustainable co-housing, and an innovative local project that provides an opportunity for individuals to pay carbon offsets in a way that benefits Habitat for Humanity.

In dieser Folge „Höhen und Tiefen“ aus dem Diabetes-Anker-Podcast dreht sich alles um Sport mit Typ-1-Diabetes – ehrlich, alltagstauglich und motivierend. Cynthia und Michi aus der Community-Redaktion sprechen mit Moderatorin Stephanie Haack über die ersten Trainingsschritte nach ihrer Diagnose, Unterzucker-Schreckmomente und Aha-Erlebnisse. Cynthia erzählt, wie sie nach Corona-Workouts und vielen Hypos ihren Weg zurück zum Training fand. Michi berichtet vom Studium, seinem „Selbstexperiment“ Sport mit Diabetes – bis hin zum Marathon samt Learnings: Vorbereitung, Fueling, hohe Startwerte und ganz viel Gel.

Die drei sprechen darüber, wie Laufen, Schwimmen, Fitnesskurse – ja, sogar Putzen und lange Spaziergänge – Werte beeinflussen und gleichzeitig Kopf und Stimmung heben. Es geht um Unterschiede zwischen Pumpe und Pen, um das ewige Timing-Thema (morgens vor dem Frühstück vs. nach Mahlzeiten), um Tage, an denen nichts planbar ist, und um die Kunst, dranzubleiben. Mit dabei: alltagstaugliche Tipps wie „kein aktives Insulin“, lieber etwas höher starten, Hypohelfer dabeihaben, mit Plan-B-Route losziehen – und sich Lernzeit geben, statt Perfektion zu erwarten.

Beide können berichten: Sport kann frustrieren, aber er schenkt Energie, Routine und Selbstvertrauen. Wer klein anfängt, regelmäßig reflektiert und den eigenen Körper kennenlernt, wird belohnt – nicht nur mit besseren Werten, sondern auch mit mehr Leichtigkeit im Alltag.
