In Surah Maryam 19:33, the infant Jesus (Isa) speaks miraculously from the cradle, saying, “Peace be upon me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I am raised alive.”

This verse raises an important question: Does the Quran affirm that Jesus' death would be like that of any other human being? And if so, what does that mean for interpretations that deny his death and crucifixion?

If you hear an invitation to believe the gospel, then it's not too late to turn to Jesus for salvation. That's what Peter explained in Acts 2:14-41 at Pentecost. Jesus isn't spiteful toward sinners, not the rebellious, the stubborn, the proud, even his own killers. If you have turned your life, marriage, career, or parenting to ashes, it's still not too late to turn to Jesus. Peter's listeners killed Jesus, but he arose and offered them eternal life if they would repent and follow him. Jesus fulfilled Scripture, left his tomb empty, and changed the lives of those who believe in him. Hearts may be granite, but the gospel of Jesus Christ is diamond. It's time to follow him!

In Acts 7, we find the record of the first martyr for the Christian faith, a man named Stephen. He presented a pointed speech on how we know if we are truly a child of God. The criteria: Do we believe in Jesus as the anointed one sent from God, or do we reject him as such? And we find, in his death, that we can make Jesus our confession when we must explain ourselves. We find that we can let Jesus so transform us by his grace that we can bless our adversaries rather than curse them, because Jesus truly is worth dying for. He died for us. We can die for him, as well as forgive for him, sacrifice for him, repent for him, change for him, and love for him.
