Do you pray for courage? The apostles did. In Acts 4, they found themselves unpopular with the power brokers, surrounded, pressured, threatened. So what did they do? They asked God for courage. They asked for the courage to continue to name Jesus as the one and only Savior for the whole world. In doing so, they taught us to pray for courage too.

It is Finished - John 19:16-42 - 7.27.2025

In Acts 7, we find the record of the first martyr for the Christian faith, a man named Stephen. He presented a pointed speech on how we know if we are truly a child of God. The criteria: Do we believe in Jesus as the anointed one sent from God, or do we reject him as such? And we find, in his death, that we can make Jesus our confession when we must explain ourselves. We find that we can let Jesus so transform us by his grace that we can bless our adversaries rather than curse them, because Jesus truly is worth dying for. He died for us. We can die for him, as well as forgive for him, sacrifice for him, repent for him, change for him, and love for him.

The Damaged Cult

In chapter 19 of his gospel, John records a detailed account of events around the crucifixion of Jesus. He says that he was an eye witness to these events and his testimony is true - so that you can know and believe (verse 35).  But why did Jesus have to die in this way ?

We are The Hill Church in Swansea. Jesus was for the last, lowest, lost and least. Sometimes we all feel more like we are losing than winning. Sometimes we can act like hypocrites, cowards and fools rather than genuine, courageous and wise. We are desperate for the way, the truth and the life in a world full of shortcuts, deception and death. We find hope and purpose in Jesus and we try and do the things he asked us to do.

Dudley Anderson was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. After graduating from Bible College in 1990, God opened the way for Dudley to branch out into Christian radio. As a musician and worship leader he developed a heart for Christian music, which became the main thrust of his radio work in South Africa.
