What Ya Wanna

Public education should both equip and empower students to be successful in their lives and contribute to their communities, but how is the current system delivering on this promise? In this episode, we welcome Mr. David Adams, CEO of the Urban Assembly, a nonprofit that promotes economic and social mobility by innovating in public education. Our thought-provoking discussion ranges from  the purpose and promise of public education to Social Emotional Learning and Career and Technical Education to the need to redefine the goals and measures of success in the public education system. Nesta sexta-feira, 7 de fevereiro de 2025, o atleta Tiago Lemes, do Centro de Treinamento Esportivo (CTE) da UFMG, esteve no estúdio da UFMG Educativa, para um bate-papo com o apresentador Luiz Fernando Freitas e o produtor Hugo Rafael, sobre atletismo e sua conquista mais recente: a medalha de ouro nos 400 metros rasos no Campeonato Brasileiro de Provas Similares ao Indoor, em São Paulo, no último fim de semana. 

Tiago completou a prova em 48,68 segundos. A competição, que abriu a temporada, vale índices e pontos para o Ranking Mundial de 2025. Tiago Lemes tem 29 anos, e treina há dez no CTE. Atualmente, ele compete pelo Praia Clube, de Uberlândia, e já soma importantes resultados na carreira, como na disputa de revezamento 4x400m durante o Mundial das Bahamas, em 2024, quando o desempenho da equipe garantiu lugar para o Brasil nas Olimpíadas de Paris, realizadas no ano passado.

On WSVA Radio's "Early Mornings", Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Vice President of Programs Hannah Frazier and her Advisor Jennifer Stroop, from East Rockingham High School and FFA State President Grayson Long of MTC and Turner Ashby High School, talked about the program and how its helping students learn valuable life and career skills.
