Djangatos is a Gypsy jazz trio honoring the style of Django Reinhart; Djangatos is a combination of Django and Los Gatos, where all three work in  music store; Robert had an earlier band, Martini Max & the Swing Cats, and the trio came together during Covid, when they played for neighbors & friends on the driveway; new CD = Roulette will be released digitally after the album release party a week from Saturday, with the physical CD available now; the Money Question: are you able to make a living in music and, if so, how? Yes! Robert performs, manages the music store, & gives guitar lessons; bassist Sadie Hallinan just graduated San Jose State, and rhythm guitarist Ron La France was retired, but came out of retirement to "take one for the team" as a luthier at the music store; all the songs are originals written by Robert; a video of "In the Kitchen" is in the plans; dare to dress to impress at the record release party!

Pour cet épisode 168, je reçois Jeremy Rubier. C’est un cinéaste franco-canadien de 36 ans. Il a passé dix ans à créer des histoires à travers le monde, réalisé des courts métrages primés, participé à des collaborations internationales avec la FIFA+, la NBA et National Geographic. Il a également fondé une société de production dédiée au soutien des cinéastes indépendants à Tokyo. Sur sa bio, on mentionne que son travail explore l'intersection entre réalité, imaginaire et technologie, transformant la narration tout en préservant une identité humaine forte… C’est sans doute cette quête d’identité humaine qui l’a conduit à monter sur son vélo pour réaliser en images une enquête afin de comprendre en quoi les gens qu’il rencontre lors de son périple se définissent comme québécois.
Jeremy nous a contactés pour parler de son trip “cyclo-sociologique” incroyable à vélo à travers le Québec, sur près de 4000 km, chargé de 20 kilos de matériel de tournage. Il voulait nous parler de son projet de documentaire qui trottait dans sa tête depuis des années. Il l’a appelé “ Le Grand Détour”. Il dit que c’est sa façon à lui d’essayer de devenir québécois pour de vrai et pas juste sur le papier. Y est-il arrivé ?
Il dit “Pendant que mes amis font des bébés ou se marient, autant vivre un truc qui me dépasse. Je pars de Montréal et je vais traverser presque tout : la Mauricie, Charlevoix, la Côte-Nord, la Gaspésie, le Bas-Saint-Laurent, l’Estrie… À vélo. En solo, caméra dans le sac”… Écoutez Jeremy, vous ne serez pas déçus.…
