This EP is just a passion project I've been working on while studying media in school. I've had the luxury of working with tons of great musicians on it and I am very blessed for it to be where it is now. If I am being completely honest I don't believe I am 100% happy with the production. However I have yet to even produce a full 10 songs. Which when you think about that is awesome, because that means that this will be something I can look back at later and see just how much I've improved and I think that is so cool.

I'll share a little about each song

September Rain
I wrote this song while in an interesting place. I had just got home from this internship I had done in Texas (I'm from Nebraska and went to spend a month in Texas studying under a Grammy winner). When I came back from that internship this was the first song I wrote. The lyrics of this song are about my girlfriend who has been with me for everything. however I also wrote the rest of this song just trying to honestly forget about some of the fundamentals I learned in Texas. I felt as when I was studying there that I learned that there is a formula to make a hit song. I hate that. Music shouldn't be this idea of formulas to write hit songs so everyone listens to you. Music should be an honest form of self expression that you put your heart into and shows how you are feeling. So I tried to do just that with this song and wrote about the thing that feels the most real to me. My feelings towards my girlfriend. This song isn't perfect, neither are me and her. But this song was a ton of fun to make and I get this overwhelmingly happy feeling listening to it, similar to the feeling I get when I am with her.

Coin Flip
I wrote Coin clip when I had been hurt and confused realized I hurt others. This song is about a band I used to be in and me being hurt and upset when it felt like they would never take the time to learn of even listen to a song I had wrote. I was hurt and upset and ultimately left the band. However, while reflecting on my time in the band I had to grow up and realize that I didn't always listen to them or what they had to say either, I also did plenty of things to hurt them too. I realized that I was two sides of the same coin. I was upset at them for some of the same things I was doing. This song is ultimately me calling myself out for my hypocrisy. 

Weekdays
This was a really cool song I wrote in 5 minutes with my boys. When I write songs I ultimately don't know what they're about initially. It usually takes time for me to step back and take a look at where I was in life and why the words I used for the song came to my mind. For this song it took an unusual amount of time for me to see what I was singing about. I had this ex-girlfriend ( I was still with her while writing this song). She had cheated on me before I wrote this song and I now realize this song is about me trying to cope with it. I was in denial about her doing any wrong and I just kept trying to say to myself that I will move past it, but I never could. No matter what I did my underlying feeling was always miserable. This song is about me lying to myself that everything is going okay when it wasn't.

Clouds
Clouds is the newest written song on this EP and was the last song added to it. The s meaning of clouds is just about me trying to succeed at what I want in life but being too scared to try and reach it. I want to be a professional musician who's music is listened to by tens of thousands of people on the daily but I am so scared that I will fail at making it to that point.

Coin Flip

It's a funny indie pop song I made it my room! I have been trying to make one song a week. This is week 2! My goal with this is that if I make a song a week I'm bound to get better. I'll be a better writer, better producer, and better vocalist. I'm trying to find my style. It's probably easy to tell that I am trying something a little different in this compared to everything else I've written. I find that I don't have the best vocal tone so I am trying to experiment. I really enjoy Milkychance (they made Stolen Dance) and I love his vocal tone. This is my own personal spin on that stone. Also this song reminds me if Meet The Robinsons... I'm not sure why.
