Our 2023 storytelling season was epic, with themes including "Your Mother!" "Animals" "Summer Lovin'" and "What I Did For Love." These stories were recorded at The Provincetown Theater, Wellfleet Preservation Hall, and Truro Castle Hill Center for the Arts.

The request was heard from alumni. WOCB elements (jingles, commercial, promos) are here from the station skimmer during my shifts there in the Summer of 1976. The original intent was for demo material (I’ll mercifully spare you). Since that was the purpose, not all the elements here are in their whole form but fun to hear. I’d love one more chance to do this kind of radio….in glorious mono. This took quite a few hours. Enjoy.

i wrote "cry" shortly after i recorded "open book." i felt stuck between the high emotion of that season and the responsibility i felt to be productive and successful. it all kind of culminated in the bridge where i asked the question, more to myself than to anyone else, of whether i should try to put on an air of nonchalance or maintain my authenticity. it's one i find i can always tap into the emotion of when i play it live. this is a recording of it at bread + roses in september 2023 :)

From jackknifing through PTSD-laced verses to chugging whiskey like it’s truth serum, Lux paints a portrait of coastal New England that has nothing to do with lighthouses and everything to do with addiction, betrayal, violence, and humor weaponized for survival. It’s a hometown anthem for the discarded — the Zanned-out kids, the grimy contractors, the hollow-eyed cousins who never left. With punchlines that offend, hooks that chant like war cries, and a bridge that flips the vibe into a funeral for his former self (“Used to love Cape Cod, now it’s Cape Nod”), this track isn’t just wild — it’s deliberately unhinged, walking the razor’s edge between satire and psychological collapse. The Mosquito Story Slam is a live storytelling event and podcast in its 10th season in Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Storytellers have 5 minutes to tell a true story based on the night’s theme. Mosquito stories are told, not read. No notes or cheat sheets on stage. Storytellers picked at random during the show.

The Mosquito’s mission is to engage a diverse audience in the art and craft of storytelling, while honoring and celebrating the commonality and diversity of human experiences. • Jim McKenna is a multi-instrumentalist & composer. 
• Members of Jim's family, Daniel McKenna and Ann Callahan, had emigrated to Boston during the Irish Famine (An Gorta Mór) in 1850 (Armagh) and 1852 (Ballygiblin, Cork) respectively.  Daniel McKenna and Ann Callahan were married in Boston (Charlestown) on October 1, 1854.  Daniel and his brother Neil were two of the five founding members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Boston (American Society of Hibernians) on March 17, 1857 (Incorporated March 27, 1861).  This organization was formed "for the purpose of rendering assistance to the sick and disabled members of their society, and also of providing for the decent burial of the dead".  Jim's great great uncle from Drumkeeran Ireland, Thomas McPartlin, performed traditional music on the banjo in Boston during the late 1800's. Jim great great aunt, from (Ballygiblin, Cork), Bridget married Daniel Murphy (Galway) in Boston Nov 5, 1876 at Holy Cross Cathedral, Boston.
