I arranged “Calling from Heaven” from KONAMI’s Castlevania: Bloodlines for a chamber-sized string ensemble: 1 violin, 1 viola, and 5 celli (3 providing rhythmic stabs, 1 used as body percussion).
Following the violin, lost in its own aestheticism, the loose, free-tempo cembalo enters, sounding unsettling and hallucinatory, or perhaps self-absorbed.
This is followed by the violin's introspective arpeggio, which then merges with the choir.
I especially like the structure of bringing the original intro to the very end of the piece.

While arranging, I have been considering the intention behind the original piece’s uncommon key of C♯ minor or D♭ minor. This key is unlikely to be a choice of mere muscle memory, which suggests there was a deliberate intention.
Naturally, it could simply be that the composer felt C♯ minor was a natural fit for the piece and chose it for that reason.
Alternatively, as an artistic device, the composer might have metaphorically adopted the idea that keys possess their own emotional color (a concept from well temperament) and set keywords associated with C♯ minor to the piece.
Another possible explanation is a practical one, such as adjusting the range to suit the hardware synthesizer used.

Another hypothesis is this: the piece is in a Baroque style, a cornerstone of the composer's work, and evokes a period when 415Hz tuning was common. Separately, the composer also practices healing music. It is possible that from both of these contexts, they regard music tuned at 415Hz as natural.
In other words, the piece might have been composed on an instrument tuned to 415Hz, but written in the key of D minor, which is generally easy to play; this would result in a sound that is effectively C♯ minor by the modern 440Hz standard. Alternatively, the piece may have been composed as a Baroque-style work in D minor at the standard 440Hz tuning, and then transposed at the end—perhaps as an artistic gesture—to approximate the 415Hz tuning relevant to its cultural background.

コナミ VAMPIRE KILLER の Calling from Heaven をチェンバーサイズの弦楽にアレンジしました。ヴァイオリン 1 本、ヴィオラ 1 本、チェロ 5 本（3 本は刻み、1 本はボディを叩くパーカッション）。
ひたすら耽美なヴァイオリンに続く、テンポに拘束されないルーズなチェンバロは、不安で幻覚的にも聴こえ、あるいは自己陶酔しているようにも聴こえます。
その後ヴァイオリンの秘めやかなアルペジオを経てクワイヤと合流します。
原曲のイントロを一番最後に持ってきた構成が気に入っています。

アレンジしながら、原曲が C♯m もしくは D♭m というめずらしいキーなのはどんな意図かずっと考えていました。このキーが手癖とは考えにくいため、意図がありそうです。
もちろん純粋に楽曲として C♯m が自然に思えたのでそうしたかったとか、あるいは芸術的演出として、古典調律のようにキーが楽曲の色彩や情緒に影響すると比喩的に採り入れて、嬰ハ短調にまつわるキーワードを曲に設定したのかもしれません。
あるいはハードウェアの音源都合でのレンジ調整という実用的な理由かもしれません。

もう一つ推測してみたのは、楽曲は作曲者様の作風の主軸の一つであるバロック音楽であり 415Hz チューニングが一般的に用いられていた時期の曲調であること、また作曲者様はヒーリング音楽を実践されており、どちらの文脈からも 415Hz 基準の音楽を自然なものとして捉えておられる可能性があります。
つまり 415Hz チューニングの楽器を使いつつ、一般的に弾きやすい Dm で書いたなら結果的には 440Hz 基準でいうほぼ C♯m となる、もしくはごく普通に 440Hz の Dm でバロック音楽を作曲してから最後に演出として文化背景に合わせた 415Hz チューニング相当にトランスポーズした、という理由かもしれません。
