I don't know why I waited so long, but finally I'm posting this track after it sitting for months in a folder. 
Some of my friends know that 2025 has been...a bizarre, often hurtful, and ridiculous year. And of course, that's just me - never mind the state of the world we're living in. I wrote this piece not long after a mass shooting at a queer bar in Colorado Springs in 2022. I originally composed it on ukulele and then transferred it to harp, although my Sufi community adored it as it was. I have shared it mostly in labyrinth/walking meditation spaces, but last night I shared it at an open mic. A few of my "Rainbow Nomads" (ask me) were there, and it affected them very deeply, enough that they begged me to post the recording I had. I'm doing it for them, and for all Rainbow and Spiritual Nomads from here to the other end of the world. It's a heavy thing to be in love.

What an incredible blessing to hear everyone join me at the end there. I did not know if they were going to be willing! I had not really played either of these tunes in a full Sufi setting yet and "Promise Keeper" is a MOOD. But they got it, because of course. :)

I can't quite remember how this one came to be but it's another one where some of the imagery was borrowed or adapted from Jahan Malek Khatun. It's another tune mourning the strictures put on religious leaders by the institution when we would rather dance outside the walls and embarrass everyone. Ha! And it's the perfect end to Nocture, which took WAY TOO LONG to end! My year kind of exploded at the end and I just didn't have the energy or excitement to finish at the time. I am finally feeling slightly recalibrated and ready for more adventures. Stay tuned: I am going to do my best to put out another Advent devotional album this year!
