Then (6:45) a chair lesson focusing on hands, increasing sensitivity in fingers. Both are for improving proprioception – for knowing where our bodies are in space. Do less than you can, rest often. By exploring a different way than is our habit, we broaden possibilities and become more resilient. Our brains like to learn new ways to do things! Move slowly, attend to your breathing, avoid all discomfort, reduce effort wherever you can find it, and keep noticing new things. Sensing and feeling is our brain’s language for learning.

This is a great lesson that explores how we often, in this practice, try something contrary to what we hope to find. We lightly compress to allow expansion. We ‘let go’ to lengthen. We turn one way to ease the turn in the opposite direction. Always do less than you can. Sense and feel your movement – this is how to access your very intelligent brain’s learning language. Move slowly and pause often. Avoid all discomfort, and always adapt lessons to your own needs.
