The significance of Chanukah as a time of joy and connection to Hashem, emphasizing its relevance to fulfilling one’s purpose and connecting with eternity. The spiritual depth of lighting Chanukah candles, which symbolizes expressing yearning and closeness to Hashem, even through feelings of incompleteness or tears. The Greeks aimed to sever the Jewish people’s joy in serving Hashem by targeting key mitzvot like circumcision, sanctifying the new moon, and Shabbat, all of which are essential to true happiness and spiritual clarity. The light of the Chanukah candles grants access to the infinite clarity and joy needed to navigate life’s challenges, and invest in their spiritual “good days” as a source of strength during difficult times.

Commissioned by Frank Abrahams for the Westminster Conservatory Youth Chorale (CYC) and featuring an original text by the composer, Celebrate Chanukah depicts the story of an iconic eight-day miracle. The piece employs numerous connections to the number "eight," including the choice of meter — 3+2+3/8. This performance is that of the CYC, a select group of high school singers, who also use body percussion for dramatic emphasis. This work is published by Transcontinental Music Publications.

We dedicate the song to the upcoming Hanukkah holiday, which is just around the corner. We aimed to create a driving, powerful piece that combines national motifs with our favorite dance sound.
We want to share our perspective on the heroic history of an ancient people and bring a wave of positivity right before the festive week (we start celebrating on December 14th).
