The first movie of 2023 to cross the billion-dollar mark at the box office is The Super Mario Bros. Movie. This animated version of the Nintendo-based characters features a stacked cast of voice actors and a story that is sure to please all the fans of the content. Starring Chris Pratt as the iconic hero Mario, Charlie Day as Mario’s sidekick brother Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. In this spoiler-free review, host Tyler Valencia gives his recommendation of whether to see the movie and goes through some of the issues he had with the story.

This installment features a lot of scenes that fans will enjoy but does it come at the cost of the overall story? Yes, fans like to see action that reminds them of their favorite parts of the Super Mario video games but it is Tyler’s opinion that a better story would have made the movie more enjoyable. The movie has grossed a lot of money in its run at the box office but is it cause of its widespread appeal? The Super Mario Bros Movie is a fun watch for all ages and is a great reason to bring the whole family to the movies.

Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill rallies his team to defend the universe and one of their own - a mission that could mean the end of the Guardians if not successful.  I reflect on the trilogy's journey, analyze the third film's story, and where it leaves us, the fans after watching this incredible cast blast off into the proverbial sunset.
