DJ Disciple Mixed Sessions June 2024 Rest In Peace Chuck Roberts

Often called the "voice of house music," the Chicago-born artist was best known for his spoken-word sermon on Rhythm Controll's 1987 single "My House." The track's iconic "In the beginning there was Jack" lyrics have since been sampled by some of the most revered names in house, most notably Fingers Inc. on the era-defining "Can You Feel It." Others examples include Todd Terry, Tuff Jam and Julio Bashmore.

In recent years, Roberts collaborated with a handful of popular artists, including Carl Cox, Bushwacka! and WhO. His final release was January's "Oscillator (Jack Is Back)" with illusionize and DJ Glen. - Resident Advisor

JT, born Jay Tipa, is a soulful house DJ who has been spinning tracks since 1985. JT's passion for house music started at a young age back in his hometown of East London. He spent countless nights and weekends listening to DJs spin at local clubs, and it wasn't long before he was inspired to learn how to DJ.

JT started off playing local gigs at house parties and small events. He quickly built a reputation for himself as a talented and versatile DJ who could seamlessly mix different genres of music. He also had a keen ear for great music and was often the first among his peers to discover new and exciting tracks.

Over the years, JT continued to refine his craft, experimenting with different styles and techniques to keep his sets fresh and exciting. He drew inspiration from some of the greats, including Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, and Louie Vega. By the early 90s, JT's reputation had grown beyond East London , and he began playing gigs across the country.


JT's love for house music has never faded, and he continues to inspire and entertain audiences today, four decades after he first picked up a pair of turntables.

Klaus Benedek grew up in a small town near Vienna. His interest in electronic music began during the 90s techno hype. He spent hours watching video clips on MTV and viva and thus gaining knowledge about electronic music. In 2004, he began teaching himself to produce. Gathering his inspiration wherever he could, he began collecting 12" vinyl records the same year and 2 years later got his first dj-gigs. From 2008 till 2010 he was one of the resident DJs at the MNML Thursdays in the Camera Club. In 2012 he started with Alex Kolodziej the event-series Tellerbetrieb. Currently he finds most of his inspiration in Chicago House, Deep House, Disco and Breakbeat. After releases on labels like Petrol Dollar, Subversaal, rekooda, Soul Shift Music, Clean and Dirty Recordings and tanzbar, Klaus launched his own label forTunea in 2014.

WIDDER was born in Saint-Etienne, immersed in a rich diverse musical culture. From a young age, he was attracted to music and began to explore different styles and electronic sounds including House & Techno music, with a lot of work from a young age, he finished 5th for the France Junior Contest “DeejayLive 2012” at DISCOM MIXMOVE in Paris.

WIDDER is known for its universe, his presence on stage is electrifying, abundant energy, he is here to create multisensory experiences for you captivate your mind with his atypical style and galactic groove ! His musical signature is a special as it is spatial, in a very percussive and powerful harmonious rhythm.

WIDDER has been doing warm ups in Saint-Tropez and Biarritz for several artists, such as Michael Canitrot, Busy P (Pedro Winter), The Supermen Lovers, Synapson, Jean Tonique, Jack DeMarseille. His favorite styles and influences come from Afro-House, Tech-House & Techno music.

WIDDER also produced DJ sets at HOG Euro Festival Harley-Davidson 2015, but also for big LGBT Techno parties at Ninkasi Kao in Lyon.
Since he started his career as a DJ, he is totally able to work with performers such as saxophonist, violinist, drummers, guitar players, singers, dancers throughout his DJ sets. He is currently a Resident DJ at 1810 APERO CLUB and is part of the label studio collective « ID by Rivoli »

Wahine–an award-winning radio show host, music blogger, interviewer, and event producer–has worn many hats since returning to the decks after a 10-year hiatus. Her comeback began with winning the Defected Croatia Mix Contest in 2019, making her international debut at the festival and reigniting her DJ career.

A thrilling and tumultuous, behind-the-scenes account of house music in NYC. The Beat, the Scene, the Sound follows DJ Disciple and his behind-the-scenes account of how DJs, promoters, fans, and others transformed house music from a DIY project into an international sensation—dive into the glitzy clubs, underground parties, and the diverse communities who made up the scene amidst the tumult of 1980s/90s-era NYC—between the fall of disco and the rise of EDM. The book unearths many untold stories of the era. When house first rose to prominence in the 1980s, it brought people together—Palladium, Paradise Garage, Tunnel, Zanzibar, Studio 54, and other clubs were going strong. But as DJ Disciple established himself in the scene, he witnessed it shatter. During the crack-cocaine epidemic, he literally dodged bullets bringing his records to and from clubs at night. HIV/AIDS and homophobia threw up fear-based partitions. Then, mayors worked to close the clubs. House music was pushed underground and then abroad to the UK and Europe. Disciple and many other DJs sought to regain a footing in the United States, but that only became possible with the rise of commercialized EDM. With dozens of interviews and historic photographs, The Beat, the Scene, the Sound shows what is possible when you bring people together and what can unravel when you split them apart.
Whether he’s dropping beats or dropping jaws, DJ Disciple is changing the game of modern music forever. David Banks, aka DJ Disciple, is an internationally-touring artist, DJ, radio host, and producer based in Brooklyn, New York. He is most famous for his success on the music charts, including his hit single, "On the Dancefloor," which peaked at #67 in the UK Singles Chart in 1994, and his Grammy-nominated track “Caught Up,” which earned the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in 2002 and was later featured on the Showtime series “Queer as Folk” in 2006. Disciple has also earned his way to the top in the world of remixes, and won an ARIA music award in Australia for his remix of producer Steven Allkins, aka Love Tattoo’s hit, “The Bass Has Got Me Movin.”

Disciple grew up with music in his genes. His father played piano with Miles Davis and his brother slapped bass for George Benson. Disciple got his start as a gospel DJ and, staying true to his religious roots, coined his name as a constant reminder that “only what you do for Christ shall last”. He started his professional career in 1987 when he worked as a radio host and mixer for WNYE FM, and quickly gained a loyal following of listeners. In the 90’s, he hosted “The Best Kept Secret”, a mix show also on WNYE (FM), where he spun the hottest new underground tracks from rising artists. From there, he moved on to touring as a DJ in 1992 with his eyes set on global success.

Disciple started out strong, and his first professional DJ gig was at the famous Studio 54 in New York. After that, Discple moved onto playing in the UK. As he traveled, his fan base quickly grew in size and diversity. By the time he debuted his first single on Muzik Pushers in 1993, his career was well on its way to the top. Since then, he has toured internationally and led the way for a modern era of DJs.

DJ Disciple is just as much an entrepreneur as he is a musician, and has had great success through starting his own record label, Catch 22 Recordings. The label is consistently putting out quality tracks, but one of the most noteworthy releases on this label was Disciple’s hit single, "Work It Out" featuring Dawn Tallman, which debuted in 2006. More recently, Disciple collaborated with Collette Mclaffery on “Birdseye View”. Their track is due out June 2017. Disciple is currently finishing his untitled book. Its publication is set for 2018.
