After a 2 year hiatus, I am proud to continue my journey at Skylab. I am even prouder to  do it in partnership with my pal, and fellow Marina Boy, DJ Tropical Breeze (aka Josh).

Together, we have produced many well regarded b2b mixes, including a couple for Skylab in the past. And with your support we can continue to bring depth, creativity and experience to skylab radio.

Our first show back on the air is a strictly 100 bpm mix (our favourite tempo), an extension of Tropical Breeze’s 100 club series. 

More than half the tracks are played at the wrong speed, giving the mix an off kilter character.  Despair disco for depressed times. Low bpms for slowed bodies. Wrong speed for a wrong world.

Nick resides in London but DJ's and travels the world over. His style of DJing is super diverse but his roots firmly planted in electronica. Originally from the north of England he began spinning records in the early 90's. His eclectic love for music comes from his childhood, his father was a drummer so naturally he was always drawn to beats. Obsessed with everything from Rock to Soul, Disco to House and anything in between he firmly believes there are only two types of music, "good and bad". The right track can move any dance floor or emotion no matter what genre! Nick constantly uploads his mixes to Soundcloud as believes these are sound capsules caught in time and its important to constantly evolve and push new music. An avid collector of vinyl and all formats of music fuel his obsession. Nick can play everything from a downtempo Balearic set to pitched up House and Disco and can shift tempo's seamlessly throughout his sets.

Owner of 586 Records, in Gateshead. A vinyl only Record Store. All playing, all dancing music selector from Peterlee. Deein the DEX since Summer 1991. 

Resident at "Reverb" in Newcastle, early 2000's and more recently, Resident and co-promoter of "Suono". Occasional DJ for the superb Star And Shadow venue, in Newcastle. Happy, on the dancefloor, or providing the music for the dancers!.

Pretty much every mix found on here was done via 2 turntables, occasionally 2 cdj's and lots of cursing when I've been fighting to either get records in or to stay in. Rare is it, that I've used a computer or edited my mixes. I believe in keeping the human touch!!.

On this page you'll hear many of the tunes I grew up with and loved, around the 1990-1991 mark. I wasn't out clubbing at the beginning of the house explosion - I was listening to Deacon Blue, INXS, New Order, Joy Division, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and the type of "pop" that is now, more than likely, Balearic!.

I know it's a cliché, but I like to think that some of the mixes, almost tell a story - whether in the mood they create, or with the songs and lyrics within, that are used. Time, thought and a bit of effort have gone into them, so I hope you enjoy them and if you do, please feel free to share with friends - either by pointing them in the direction of my page, or downloading and putting onto disc and listening to, over and over again...x
