I originally composed Strange Metronome while following a metronome — and it felt strange… Later, I discovered that my recording software (Logic Pro) could detect the tempo of my playing without a metronome. What a liberation! But I kept the original title… 
J’ai d’abord composé Strange Metronome en suivant un métronome, avec un résultat étrange… Puis j’ai découvert que mon appli d’enregistrement (Logic Pro) pouvait détecter le tempo de mon jeu de piano sans métronome. Enfin libre ! Mais j’ai gardé le titre d’origine…

On the heels of his internationally acclaimed piano solo “To the One I Love,” James Shumway has now released his next piano solo “So Glad You’re Mine.”  

Originally a song Shumway wrote, he eventually evolved it into an arrangement for piano brimming with emotional resonance.

The emotion Shumway sought to capture was that of two people who have spent a lifetime together, and, looking back, are grateful for the decision they made. 

“So Gad You’re Mine” is Shumway’s fourth instrumental release.  Prior to “To the One I Love,” he released two other piano solos, “IOU” and “Regrets.”

Best described as eclectic, my style is a soothing mix mirroring my personality: mostly mellow with the occasional outburst. Although I have a background in classical piano I have always loved to create and improvise.  Since early childhood I have been trying to duplicate on the piano what I hear in my head.
